Bottle courtesy Ang’, passed on at the Moncada Brewery Taproom (soon to open), Friday 16th May 2014 consumed at home Saturday 24th May 2014 Pours reddy/amber with light filmy coating and a creamy edge. A little metallic at first with a distinctive twang which is fruity but I cannot identify which fruits. Hops show and continue to show throught having said that I wouldn’t describe this as a hoppy beer. Ok but I prefer others in the range. A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov3 3.1

50 cl bottle.
Pours clear dark mahogany color with a medium sized off-white head. Aroma is quite nice with caramel, malts and some faint chocolaty notes, mild hops, rye and nuts also. Kind of watery but creamy palate with flavors of caramel, toffee, malts, rye and dried fruits. Soft carbonation, lingering caramel aftertaste. Very easy to drink but a bit sturdier body could have made this way better.

Bottle from the Red Squirrel Chesham Brewery Shop. Was slightly outside of the best before date. Poured a dark, bright ruby with a dense, beige head. Aroma of milk chocolate, rye and dark malts. Sweet flavours of ripe berries, cocoa and dark cake. Finish was burnt malt, gentle coffee and bitter chocolate. Had to look twice at this one... really tasted like a porter, but looked like an amber ale...

Deep ruby color, small beige head, some lace. Some caramel, fruity mentholic hoppyness. Light to medium bodied, oily palate. Caramel, berries, some harsh bitterness. Rye is not dominating here. A bit lame.

Bottle @Moncada Brewery. Courtesy of Julio. Nice rye aromas. Wet, spicy flavours. Pours amber-reddish, off-white head. Some caramel and spicy notes. Nice to find a beer were rye is so well integrated (not overwhelmed by tons of hops as in most Rye IPA´s), and can be easily noticed and appreciated. Really interesting and enjoyable beer.

Tap at Crown and Anchor Brixton. Pours deep ruby red with a small beige head. Nose is nutty undertones and light chocolate followed by earthy and floral hops. Works in great balance. Taste has the same malty undertones but the hops come through in a great balanced way. Some chocolate with floral and tarty berry like hops over the top. Very balanced and quaffable stuff. Nice

Cask conditioned at Minehead Beer Fest ’13. Cloudy amber with slight head. A pleasantly fruity Rye Beer, nicely hoppy with a juicy berry type flavour, big blackberry and raspberry hints. Liked it.
