COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
What do Scotland and the American South have in common? An appreciation for good booze. But that doesnít mean they always get along. We put our award-winning Drafty Kilt Scotch Ale in Kentucky bourbon barrels and let them duke it out in the cellar. Who won? You did. The chocolate, caramel and roasted malts in Drafty Kilt complement the charred oak and vanilla notes in the bourbon barrels quite well. Notice we didnít say "compliment." Scotch and Bourbon still donít send each other Christmas cards.

Draft at the Porter Beer Bar in Atlanta. Deep brown pour with a think off-white head. Head lasted only 60 seconds. Some lacing. Aroma of barrel, bourbon, booze, mocha, cocoa nibs, vanilla, and dark fruits. The taste was serious bourbon and barrel, nibs, dark chocolate, and vanilla. Slight tobacco. Heavy body, little oily. Strong finish. Powerful flavors and overall awesome.

Fresh howler from Hop City Birmingham as a Christmas present. Nice dark brown color with a small tan head. Cool aroma of the peaty base scotch ale but hints of vanilla and bourbon come through too. The flavor is the save with bourbon bite in the finish. Nice style variant.

Bottle shared by jheath99. Pours clear, dark brown with creamy off-white head. Aroma is caramel and toasted malts, vanilla, dark fruits, light bourbon, and some tobacco. Flavor is chewy malt profile with plenty of caramel and alcohol sweetness along with vanilla, oak, bourbon, and some dark fruit notes. Medium/full body and medium carbonation.

Smells like bourbon. Oaky. Vanilla. Caramel. Looks well ok. This was on tap at the brewery. So it looks good. Nice head. Dark brown but you can tell itís brown. Tastes like bourbon. Same as smell. Palate is smooth. Goes down smooth. Medium body clean finish. Ok.... This this rates amazing so far but I have to knock it points because it doesnít represent the style very well. Otherwise a great beer.

bomber, this one was ok, very sweet though and the barrel made it a lot sweeter which pretty much killed it for me, pretty flat and lame.

22 ounce bottle. Light bourbon. Dark body with some chocolate. Carbonation pushes it into cocoa cola range for taste.

Aroma- Bourbon, dark fruit, caramel, nice oak character, and some chocolate. Second pour brought out some light tropical fruit and pine. Taste- Plum, caramel, and other dark fruits up front, followed by a wave of tropical fruit over a nice roasty backbone. Smokiness comes in toward the end with some light notes of dark chocolate, coffee, and pine. Ever so slight bourbon on the finish with a nice little burn. Sometimes dark cherry shows up as well. Dark chocolate, roast, and some pine comes out in the aftertaste.

Dark brown, almost black with a dark tan head. Aroma is slight chocolate and vanilla bean. A bit of bourbon, but not strong. Flavor is light peat and smoke with a nice but of sweet malt. Bourbon is understated, comes in a bit at the end. It does finish a little thin, but other than that fairly tasty. Wife: 3.8
