COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A roasty scotch ale with a hint of smoke. Full-bodied, but not overpowering. Smokey, but not in a creepy bar kind of way. Sweet, but not obnoxiously so. Sound like your ideal mother-in-law? Fair enough, but it also is a pretty dead-on description of our Scotch Ale. In a difficult hop-growing climate, Scottish brewers relied on other ingredients to impart flavor and bitterness – one such ingredient was smoked malt. Drafty Kilt is a dark, malty bombshell of a beer.

Brewed at Thomas Creek before the brewery opened.

12 oz. bottle. Pours opaque and dark brown. Nose is earthy molasses and cocoa. Tastes of toffee, cocoa, earthy leaf and char. Medium-heavy body is well balanced with a smooth, medium carbonation.

Is it a law that any Scotch / Scottish style ale has to have the word "kilt" in the name? Anyhoo, this was pretty good, a nice mix of toasty, earthy flavors and good deal of dark roasty flavors, with a very subtle smokey undertone. I liked it, even if it was probably better suited for sipping by a fire instead of sitting at a shadeless picnic table in 85 degree weather.

12oz bottle from GT Package in Grovetown. Almost full black pour with a beige head. Tasty thick, sweet plums, light smoke, caramel and cocoa. Interesting blend that was not perfectly put together, but solid. Interesting, for style. 13.5

On tap on nitro at The Brick Store Pub in Decatur, GA. Opaque dark brown pour with a silky one-finger nitro head. Light peat smoke and caramel on the nose. Taste is caramel, light smoke, dark fruits. Hint of sweetness but no hops. Medium mouthfeel, no more. Nicely delicious and very easy to drink.

Very light smell but sick so might be that....taste is not as expected... Lighter and crisper than I’d expect from a scotch ale...more mild and mellow too...could also be cause I’m sick though... Dry and hoppier than a reg scotch ale. .need to have again when not sick

Bottle. The wood really stands out in the bourbon barrel version, while the standard edition relies on its sweet malty caramel - wet and smoky.

Draft in Augusta. Good stuff. Dark brown pour. Mild aroma. Tastes more like dark amber but no complaints. Nor heavy or hoppy.

9/25/15. 12oz bottle, single, from Warehouse in Albany, GA. Amber pour with a small khaki head. Malty aroma, biscuit, caramel, toffee, a bitter nutty aspect. Good flavor, toffee, nutty, caramel, doughy, a bit of a bitter bite. Not bad.

Deep, clear ruby black-brown. Clingy almond head. Hoppy, sweet and tannic malty aroma. Very tasty, dark syrup, assertive hops, medium sweetness for style, some roast. Chewy. Stiff bitterness in the finish, along with a light astringency. Overall very good. Taco Mac, John’s Creek.
