3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 chinchill (580) - South Carolina, USA - APR 8, 2013
April 2013 on tap at the brewery. This beer is a lovely near-black, ruby-brown color; crystal clear with fine highlights. Ample and durable tan hand.
The aroma is rather light and fruity compared to the full flavor. The latter features dark roasted malts and more spicy hops than I expected. The higher ABV is well-hidden; drinks like a 5.5% although the alcohol comes through in the nose after warming. Hints of smoke and roasted nuts. Brewery says the grain bill includes "cherrywood-smoked malt, chocolate malt, and roasted barley". Roasted grain, coffee, toffee and a trace of smoke in the aftertaste. No burnt flavors and just wee bit of peat.
M: medium-full body; good carbonation.
O: a moderately successful Scotch Ale, "Americanized" with a healthy but well-proportioned dose of hops. Unique, perhaps due to the cherrywood-smoked malt.

This beer was surprisingly smooth but with a very nice finish. You can taste the smoke but not too much.

Draught at West Egg. This is a solid scotch ale with a bit more effervescence than I am used too. Grab one if your in ATL.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 durhambeer (2398) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - JAN 25, 2013
Growler filled at The Beer Growler in Brookhaven, ATL. Pours a rich creamy-topped reddish copper, soft and full on the palate. Great malt profile and nice bitterness. Almost like an imperial bitter, if that makes any sense at all. A tad sweeter, though, and a subtle hint of peat smoke.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 DrinkEmUpJones (985) - Georgia, USA - NOV 15, 2012
Deep clear dark red color with thin off white lacing. A slightly candied fruit aroma (cherry) with just a little bit of tree bark. The palate has a slight smokey feel to it but not as huge as other beers in this style. Smooth and slightly sweet. A very quaff-able beer at 8.2%.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 burg326 (2326) - Florida, USA - OCT 19, 2012
On draft at the Marriott Courtyard bar in Atlanta, poured a mahogany color with aromas of light chocolate, light caramel, and some thing funky. Flavors are the same, a light weird aftertaste, not sure if it was from the beer or from the lines.

Aroma of delicious roasted malt and some noble hop floral. Pours deep brown with fluffy film. Taste is light a warm blanket of malt. Malt, chocolate, and slight floral hop. Very easy to drink.
