Growler from the beer growler in Avondale. First stop there. Pours a flat cola brown with a quickly dissipating tan head. Nice caramel malt and sweetness. Very well made scotch ale. one of my favorite styles this time of year. This beer gets enough malt presence and flavor but keeps it very accessible and drinkable for the masses. Should do well with this.

Growler from GrowlerTown (Hop City). Very nice Reddish-brown color. Light tan head, quickly diminished. Aroma of sweet toasted malt. Roasted barley flavor, nice touch of smoke. Smoke character adds just the right amount of balance to the sweet roasty malt backbone of this brew. Very nice. Overall, a bit too heavy bodied to be sessionable, although I’d grab it in a second if I found it on tap in a restaurant.

THIS BEER HAS ALOMOST LIKE A COCA COLA APPERANCE. IT LOOKS AS IF YOU POURED A CAN OF COKE IN THE GLASS. IT HAS A STRONG SMOKE, CHOCOLATE MALT SMELL. THE TASTE IS A SMOKEY BISCUIT WITH A HINT OF THE FLORAL HOPS POPING OUT. OVERALL THIS IS A WONDERFUL SCOTCH ALE VERY EASY TO DRINK. ONE THING THAT MONDAY NIGHT DOES SO WELL IS TO MAKE WELL CRAFTED DRINKABLE BEERS!

Pint at Thinking Man. Pours deep brown/red with a small head. The aroma is pure malt with notes of vanilla, tobacco, smoke and damp basement. The palate is slick. Smokey flavors provide some backbone for this brew and leave a tasty finish. It’s not too sweet despite basically having no hop character. There are some metallic flavors along with notes of biscuits.

Appearance: Slips from the growler a very dark ruby-hued body with a smallish, faintly beige-tinged head.
Smell: Sweetish aroma of dark brown sugar, caramel, toasty malts, and ripe plums, with a teensy sniff of well-applied smoke and an appeased roasty accent.
Taste: A deep, welcoming maltiness, from brown sugar to toasted malt to caramel, with a hint of darkened barley. Touch of dark fruitiness akin to a bit of fresh plum. Thin sliver of clean smokiness. Low earthiness and a subtle herbal hint to the hops, with a subdued bitterness, leaving it fairly sweet throughout, though not cloying. A further hint of fruit, some very faint alcoholic heat, and still a deep sweetness on the smooth finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-full body. Medium-light carbonation.
Overall: A quality scotch ale. It’s got an inviting richness to it without being bloated and enough soothing alcohol without being boozy or putting me in a coma for the evening. Yes, it’s fair to say I enjoyed it.

Had this one at a beer festival this weekend. Pours a nice dark amber with ample almond-colored head. Great strong nutty aroma with plenty of malt. The beer was more bitter than I expected but I quickly embraced the strong flavor. Strong coffee-like smokey-nut flavor that takes over your whole palate and leaves a nice and rich aftertaste.

Dark brown with a light tan head, aroma is roasted malt and slight mustiness. Flavor is sweet with a hint of caramel. Big roasted malt body with a slight bitter aftertaste. Really enjoyed this, looking forward to see what else these guys have to offer.

Comes out of the tap a barely transparent chocolate brown with a fine-bubbled light tan head. Rich, malty, chocolaty and spicy aroma invites a taste. Mouth-filling malty flavor has a spicy undertone and hints of chocolate and toffee. Strongly tingly texture leaves a persistent fizz behind.
