COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A crisp, drinkable IPA. The earthy deliciousness of Cascade and Simcoe hops, combined with upfront malt flavor, and balanced with a pirate’s sensibilities. Our Eye Patch Ale is a uniquely drinkable take on the American IPA – sweet caramel, citrusy flowers and swashbuckling adventure abound with every pint.

Brewed at Thomas Creek before the brewery opened.

Hazy pour with beige head. Citrusy aroma dominates with light lemony hints. Malt dominant mouthfeel with a hoppy malty finish. Finish really lingers with a peppery spice.

Transfer from BA review on 3-29-14- Poured from bottle into a pint glass Appearance – The beer pours a medium golden amber color with a tiny white fizzy head. The head fades very fast leaving a bit of foamy lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma is mainly of a sweeter smell being a mix of caramel, toffee, and some tropical fruits of mango and papaya. There is only a very light level of hop smell in this one, with just a hint of grapefruit and herbal hop. With a little bit of a doughy smell the aroma is overall very fruity and sweet. Taste – The taste begins with a doughty and bready flavor mixed with some hop of a grapefruit nature as well as some sweetness of a caramel and tropical fruit flavor. These flavors remain relatively constant throughout the taste with only the tropical fruit flavors getting slightly stronger as the taste moves on to the end. Some more hop flavors of an earthy and pine nature come to the tongue more toward the end of the taste and with the increase in the tropical fruits and all the other flavors that acted as a base for the flavor profile, it ends leaving a sweet and more lightly hopped (for an IPA) flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is actually rather thick and chewy for a brew of only 6.2 % abv with a carbonation level that is on the slightly lower side. For the lighter hop flavors, the thinner carbonation and thicker body actually were quite nice as they accentuated these lighter flavors in comparison to the sweeter and beadier flavors of the brew; giving it a more IPA like quality than it otherwise would have had. Overall – While a bit light in the hop profile for an IPA, the flavors all melded rather well together and made for an easy drinking brew. For the style not really appropriate overall, it should be labeled as an APA as this would be a great drinking brew for that style.

Not a bad offering at all. Fairly malted but the hops are strong enough to overpower a lot of the malt. I all honesty, it’s a really decent clean drinking IPA that’s worth it.

bottle @ Habersham Beverage / Savannah GA --- Cloudy dirty orange amber with a 1/2" creamy ivory head, vertical streaks of lace. Taste is malt and citrus hops that utrns a little metallic at the finish. Big and full-bodied, seems more than 6%. Decent to drink.

Amber pour, off white head. A tad maltier than I would like but certainly not bad. Hop pellet bitterness and caramel malt. Decent.

If you want to feel cool because you drink an ipa this is for you. Very malty builds up a bitter profile on your tongue. Sweet with a grassy feel on the tongue. No aroma hardly exist. Mild bitterness. Overall an enjoyable pale ale though. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft at Sundial. Pours a hazy amber-orange color with a quickly dissipating head. Hints of citrus and pine aromas. Evident hops, though light for an IPA, balancing malt. Overall a tasty if lightly-hopped IPA.

Draft at Crystal Beer Parlor. Nose is slightly piney with moderate toffee and honey like sweetness. Pours a fairly clear reddish orange. Taste is similar with a residual sweetness and slight roasty finish. A touch of butter/slickness that might be diacetyl in the flavor. Ok but not great

Bottle. Pours a golden color with a head that fades slowly to some lacing. Aroma of citrus and pine, floral with grain and bit of malt. Taste of pine and bit of grapefruit, bit of malt sweetness and grain. Nice bitterness and a dry finish. Fairly medium body, crisp with a solid IPA feel without being overly hopped. Nice beer worth checking out.

12 oz bottle. It pours a dark golden color or maybe light amber with a small white head. It has a nice citrus and floral hop aroma. It’s a nice dry ,hoppy, bitter but not excessively so IPA. I taste grapefruit and other citrus, some resin and a hint of pine. This is a really good beer. I will try to drink more by this brewer in the future.
