One of the less offensive beers to come out of Huyghe. I donít know why they donít just call it Florisgaarden Banana, ícause it has all the elements of a Florisgaarden beer, sweet, artificial flavour. I really expected to throw up after having a sniff of this, but I managed to drink the whole bottle without pulling a face.

Bottled. Golden colour. Candyish banana aroma. Super sweet, extremely cloying and sugary. Oh boy, Huyghe really sucks.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bananananananana. Very sweet banana aroma a soon as the bottle opened, Pale golden colour, dissapointing head. Tastes like a beer flavoured chewy banana sweet (candy). In the summer I had some of this well chilled for a BBQ and it was better then. In summary keep it for summer barbies.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Poured into an official Mongozo (R) glass...clear, banana yellow, silky, snow-white head, good 1/2"...Aroma: banana, banana, banana...plus cream pie, too...not too sweet, a little bready.
Taste: Brisk little blast of hops, tiny bitterness, but great flavor delivery, full-flush banana. Excellent balance, plenty of lush, sweet, malt, just enough tasty hops, light/medium bodied, sweet, tingly, long finish.
Based on an African recipe, made in Belgium, using real bananas, says the label, and so it tastes! High carbonation gives too much a soda-ish feel, could of used a little something else, a little of that zesty, yeasty Belgian goodness. But a pretty nice little banana brew.

Clean banana aroma a la cough syrup les the sugar. If you like banana you might like the aroma of this fruit beer. Very sweet, sugar and bubble gum. Sweet sugary finish. Killer palate. Much to sweet .

1.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
Pale yellow color. Aroma of nothing but banana. Bad ultra sweet banana flavor. Reminds me of banana flavored runtz candies.

2.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Extreme banana aroma and flavor. Really captures the banana flavor well. Maybe a little bit too well. The banana flavor is strong. Very sweet and syrupy. Has more of a flavor of a juice or soda. Maybe even a candy like flavor.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Strong sweet banana aroma and flavour with a candy like syrupy quality to it. As Joey_Capps points out it makes a better beverage than it does a beer but I enjoyed this one as a nice change of pace. Bonus overall point for the use of "fair trade" bananas.

The phrases "huyghe brewery" and "banana beer" are both sufficient in and of themselves to induce reverse peristalsis. Put them together and you have a recipe for disaster. Pale yellow colour; banana, cinammon flavour; cream of wheat aroma. I wouldn't go so far as to say I enjoyed it, but it's a lot better than Chapeau Banane, which makes it the best banana beer I've tried.
