28 Mar 2005 - An aroma with bananas plus. If you extrapolate some wheat beers, then you get this aroma. Banana yellow clear colour, some suspended paticles, with good lacing, but awful head. The flavour tatsed like sweet lolly bananas and lacks some hops to balance the sweetness. Palate has a clangy lingering taste that is way too sugary sweet. Overall the banana flavour is different but not my beer thank you. This beer is unique I guess but it tries too hard.

Bottled. Slightly cloudy yellow colour. Small head. Artificial banana aroma. Very sweet banana flavour. This is even worse than Chapeau Banana. Crap!

(Bottle 33 cl) Yellow, slightly hazy with a small, creamy head. Incredibly strong and sweet banana both in aroma and flavours. But also somewhat artificial. According to the list of ingredients none of the Mongozo beers should contain malt! In that case they’re small masterpieces within the art of brewing.... 240705

Well, I like bananas.. Which is obviously a condition for liking this. -And I thought German weizen smelled like banana! It’s nothing compared to this. Extremely sweet. I can understand why most people would find this disgusting, but I like it. In small amounts..

Bottled. Cloudy yellow coloured with a small white head. Cloying aroma of bananas with acidic notes. Flavour of bananas with citric notes. Weird combination.

UPDATED: JUL 12, 2005 The best thing about this beer is that the brewer uses Fair Trade bananas. It’s just a pity that the bananas are used to make beer. I like bananas and I don’t mind this concept - banana beers are common in parts of Africa. However, this is so syrupy sweet that I doubt anyone over the age of five would want to drink an entire bottle. It looked okay: pale gold, with a tall, puffy head. Good head retention and some islands of lace. Strong, sweet aroma of, er... bananas (similar to banana milkshakes, which implies this uses a syrup or concentrate). The aroma also includes yeast, wheat and sherbet. The palate is fairly flat and sticky, with a faint sherbety character at the back of the throat. Sugar is the dominant flavour in the form of banana syrup. I guess you could serve this with dessert as part of a beer dinner. But I’m not sure your guests would thank you...

Pale gold colour with a slim white head. Smells like banana syrup. Tastes like banana syrup and candy. Medium body. Sweet aftertaste. Not beer.

lots of efervesence when this one is poured champagne like. sweet fruit nose. more on the palate of viscous banana extract and rock candy. not very enjoyeable ot drink. more of a desert wine/beer/drink/contraption.
