   AROMA 6/10   APPEARANCE 2/5   TASTE 5/10   PALATE 3/5   OVERALL 8/20
GoufCustom (748) - HONG KONG - MAR 19, 2013

330ml bottle bought at Belgian Beer Intl in Tsuen Wan. Clear dull golden yellow colour which resembles banana oil; Near zero head and residual white foam which last about 10 seconds; Small and sticky lacing with notable carbonation; Potent smell of banana, banana oil, banana pulp, and candy sugar; Strong sweet taste of banana, banana flavourings, apple cider, cinnamon, and trace of hidden grass; Mid to light body, oily palate; Taste profile is almost all sweet - but surprisingly comfortable and not cloying - banana related, real and artificial. Also some cidery / green apple in the background. Malt taste is pretty much non-existent, as wheat malt took up much of the beer for lighter body; Hoppiness is near zero but detectable at the end, not much of a finish; Slightly dry after taste, extremely easy to mouth.

Comments: believe it or not, this is not as bad as you might think, as I drawn my previous experiences with its parallels, the dreadful ‘fruit beer pops’ from Taiwan Beer and Zhujiang. Yes, they share very similar profiles in looks and body, but this one has a wholesome, spicy taste of banana and cinnamon all the way, while the latter has only bad flavourings of various thickness and ugly soda pop carbonation to show for just a few seconds. Once you’ve experienced those dreary beer pops from this side of the ocean, you will realize the creators of Delirium Tremens did their work with Mongozo’s, albeit the appreciation will be in the minority. Overall it‘s passable, and I will not refuse another serving in the future.

Served in bottle 33cl. Very strong aroma, maybe a little too stong! Served in coconut shell, thats funny! The banana taste is so strong you can hardly call it a beer, but for once in a while it’s ok.

Bottled, thanks to my wife Eva who gives me a sample. Pale golden colour with minimal and quickly diminishing white head. Aroma has banana notes, it’s normal, isn’t it? Chemical flavor to banana with a final with avergae duration.

Pours clear straw yellow with almost no white head. Aroma is extremely of bananaand is overwhelmingly sweet. Taste is exactly the same. More drinkable than other variants.

33cl bottle, Geers. - Chemical, watery, transparent, sugary banana bubble gum. Eminently unnecessary banana syrup concontion, that at some late point in the brew has seen trace elements of Witbier leftovers. Do yourself a favour and go mix a run-of-the-mill Hefeweizen with ripe banana shake, if you crave this flavour. Shame to say this is being exported from the same place as Delirium Tremens (which was my only motivation to try this).
