COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A one-of-a-kind top-fermented beer, brewed with roasted malts and African palm nuts, based on an authentic recipe from Angola, South West Africa, thanks to Henrique Kabia. Traditionally drunk from a calabash, a type of gourd.

Cloudy orange with a huge thick white head. Yeasty Belgian golden ale type aroma. Acidic taste well balanced with some malt sweetness, and an almost saison like taste. Unfortunately, this beer is way overcarbonated. Every sip vaporizes on your tounge in an annoying sizzling flash of bubbles. Maybe they put the extra bubbles in it because the rough interior surface of a gourd will cause a lot of carbonation to come out of solution. While this is a decent Belgian style ale, I was expecting something much more exotic with all of the "authentic African style" hype.

Bottle from Wine of Galilee in Tallinn. Pours copper, very hazy with big bits floating around; very lively head jumped right out of the bottle, not big in the glass, colour pale beige. Nose is... man... that’s strange... indeed nutty, but also a great deal of beeswax... caramelly... Taste is less freaky, delicately sweet yet gooey fruits like fig, malty and kind of metallic (especially in the finish). Palate sticky and sweet. Finish grainy and unpleasantly semi-dry. Carbonation less than expected from the initial explosion. Body medium. Among the strangest brews I’ve had - definitely intriguing and memorable, but good? - rather not. Difficult to rate!

330ml bottle cheers jeevan! Pours clear amber, thin off-white head. Aromas are nutty, caramel. Taste is oddly bitter, nutty, them sweet at the end. Weird.

330ml bottle. Clear, but full of floaty bits despite of 3 weeks settling in the fridge. Medium size, thick beige head, stays. Sweet, tropical fruits, melon, coriander, bit metallic notes in aroma. Slightly fermented fish, melon, metallic, juicy notes in taste. Medium carbonation. Sweet and metallic body. Weird stuff.

(Bottle). Aroma and taste of sweet fruits, malt, citrus and yeast. Strange but nice.

Palm nut beer allegedly to an African recipe. Sweet, caramelly and sugary, with nutty, bit weird but not uninteresting aroma and a hint of toasted malts. Significantly better than the coconut and banana versions but still an overtly sweet, weird concoction.

0,33L bottle, BB 06.15. Pours dark amber with very light tan head. The head stays for some time. Aroma is exotic fruits, fresh apple, malt, spices. Flavor is sweet, exotic fruits, malt, caramel, brown sugar, and some nuts. Finish is fruity dry bitter with hints of alcohol. Overall: nice brew, very pleasant surprise.

(Mongozo Palmnut) Bottle at home, 330 ml, poured into a tulip glass. ABV 7% Very dark orange copper to red colour on the body, tall and frothy off-white head. The body is clear, with intense activity in it. The head although frothy has an okay retention. Light lacing is left on the glass after it has collapsed. Fruity aroma, much like a belgian ale, peaches, apricot, some sugar. Nice taste, again sugar, apricots, I don’t get any of the roasted malts or palm nuts but I get lots of iron, could be that the palm nuts? Who knows. Medium thin body, very high on carbonation. Slightly dry on the palate. Overall not bad, certainly the best of the Mongozo beers I had till now.

Dit was absoluut niet mijn ding, echt zo slecht dat ik niet alles heb kunnen drinken.
