What a great beer! This copper tinted brew blends earthy aromatics with a perfect hoppy, caramel taste. Yum!

From bottle. Pours a nice copper/red color with decent head. Aroma was typical amber with a banana yeast note. Taste followed with a malt sweetness and crisp end.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 chinchill (585) - South Carolina, USA - MAR 18, 2013
12 oz bottle poured clear orange-amber with a creamy head of moderate size and retention. A good bit of lacing is left on the glass. Contract brewed by Thomas Creek in SC,
S: Smells rather like a lager with more malt.
Tastes more like an amber than it smells. Also tastes a bit like a nut brown ale but with subtle Belgian yeast.
M - Light body; medium carbonation.
O: decent but uninteresting amber. With the "Monk ..." name and the fine label, I was hoping for a bit more Belgian style in this beer.
2.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Eckato (146) - Gulfport, Florida, USA - FEB 21, 2013
Pours a light redish amber...white head that disappears fast., banana hits me right away as a take an initial wiff.... The taste is somewhat of a let down and slightly metallic. Leaves my mouth somewhat dry. Tasteless offering this one. Nothing special, although I love the aroma of bananas
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Chipalsa (1091) - Florida, USA - FEB 9, 2013
Impulse buy at a local bottle shop - it’s always there. The pour is a clean red with light bubbles, not much of a head though. It smells like cardboard, peanuts and faint wet grass. There isn’t much of a hop flavor, but rather soft caramel and leafy greens. I’m glad I didn’t get a skunked bottle, but this thin-bodied beer overall had a strange gritty finish.

Pours an Amber orange with a paperthin white head. Aroma of Belgian yeast and fruit. taste follows with lots of banana, spicy peppercorns, and pineapple. also some bubblegum in the finish. A bit too sweet for the style.

Great beer! Smooth and drinkable lager, with wheaty characteristics. I think it deserves a better rating than 42

Bottle. Light amber, very small and fully diminishing head. Moderate, malty and sweetish aroma, some caramel and some fruitiness yeast and light hoppyness. Body is light to medium, malty and sweetish flavor, some caramel and some fruitiness, some yeast. Finish is average, malty and sweetish, some caramel and light fruitiness, light yeast and light hoppyness. Amber ale with Belgian yeast - this one is not for me.
