COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer started as a Southern English Brown, and evolved from there. The nose almost comes across as caramel, but when you drink, you will find that it is not sweet. Dark, toasty, and lightly sweet with notes of chocolate, coffee, biscuit, and caramel, this beer is complex but very drinkable. A rustic but balanced beer without a strong hop presence, definitely made for the malt lovers of the old world.

On tap at the brewery. It pours a brown color with a khaki head. The aroma has some red fruit, cherries, light syrup and toast. The flavor is nice and mild syrupy cherries with strong toasted malt and lightly roasted malt in the finish. Medium acidity. Enjoyable.

Keg at the taproom, SD, 12/11/14. Extremely dark mahogany brown topped with a decent light tan swirl. Nose is light charr, toffee fudge, nutty, hoppy back pang. Taste comprises sweet licks, caramel, liqourice, toasted brown sugar. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with sweet licks and some hop presence. Ok but just a little overly sweet for me.

Had on tap at Monkey Paw in San Diego. Pours a dark brown with a thin creamy tan head. Aroma is espresso and not much else. Flavor is very malt forward with lots of coffee and some roast. Slightly tart. Slightly sweet. Very nice beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
