COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Black Belgianish single with sweet orange peels.

Though dark in appearance, the beer has a modest alcohol and very approachable taste. A sessionable black Belgian single with dark malts and sweet orange peels, which reveals subtle notes of citrus and a pleasant chocolatey roastiness.

Pours a blackish color with an off-white head. Smells primarily of roasted malts. A touch of citrus, maybe a bit of bitter cocoa powder. Some black pepper and some chalk, as well. The flavor is surprisingly bitter. As with the aroma, primarily roasted malts on the palate. Heavy on the chalk, black pepper, and bitter orange, too.

On tap at the tasting room. Pours with a deep brown, near black hued body with a lasting tan head. Moderate lace. Aromas are of oranges, low phenol, estery, vanilla, medium to low roast, chocolate, leathery and peppery. Lightly grassy. Flavors show some mild roast, earthy and nutty, peppery phenols, bone dry (which is nice). Nutty, floral, peppery, light citrus zest, medium phenol and ester in the finish. Lively bubbles, dry and clean.
