_angst_ (2854) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - OCT 9, 2012
Draught @ Monks CafČ Wallingatan. Pours hazy dark brown, almost black, with a frothy blackish beige head that slowly dissipates while leaving lots of trace on the glass. Smell is sweet and malty with butterscotch, grapefruit juice, toasted malts, grass, sweet liquorice candy and hints of pine. Taste is sweet, bitter and tiny herbal with butterscotch, roasted malts, orange peal, lemon balm, sweetened dark roast coffee and lemon fudge. Mouthfeel is tiny round, astringent and medium bodied. Finish is bitter with butterscotch, grapefruit rinds, roasted almonds, roasted malts, moist soil and resinous wood. Not good at all...

larsniclas (5635) - Billdal, SWEDEN - SEP 28, 2012
Draught at Wallingatan Black with a small, beige head. Loads of butterscotch. Sweet and milky aroma. Strange spicy flavour with too much alcohol. Petty high and dry bitterness.

rlgk (11026) - Göteborg/Jönköping, SWEDEN - SEP 28, 2012
Draught at Monks Wallingatan, Stockholm. Black beer with a quite lasting beige head. Toffee and caramel aroma, milky, chocolate, cream, vanilla, fruity notes. Fruity vanilla flavor, caramel, cream, milk chocolate. Not what I expect from a black IPA. At least it finishes with some bitterness and roasted notes.

brokensail (11085) - Orange County, California, USA - SEP 22, 2012
Dark brown in color with an off-white head. Fairly chocolaty on the aroma. A decent amount of roast, some hints of licorice, and a bit of an earthy and floral aroma, too. There is a moderate citrus quality to it, too. The flavor is somewhat sweet from the chocolate and toffee malt notes with a light hop and roast bitterness. Some hints of alcohol on the finish. Decent citrus qualities with some earthiness and floral notes on the palate as well.

Draught @ Monks Cafe Wallingatan, Stockholm. Pitch black, opaque color, medium sized off-white head that leaves very good lacing. Smell malts, lightly smoked malts, lightly roasted malts, slightly a sweet hint, slightly hops. Taste malts, dark malts, lightly roasted malts, light to moderately bitter. Medium but soft carbo, medium body.

(Draught at Monk’s Café Wallingatan, Stockholm) Black colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with dark chocolate, creamy coffee and dark fruit. Malty, roasted taste with notes of chocolate, coffee, dark fruit, raisins and a generous resinous bitterness in the finish. More than medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Well balanced and tasty. Very nice.
