2010 bottle. Black with a brown tinge, thick liquid, small porous brown head that dissolves into a ring. Full aroma: roasted, cocoa, coffee. Taste: chocolate, licorice, liqueur, salt, soy sauce, toffee. Thick and oily. Very unexpected. Like Neeskens below, I got something that doesn’t match the other descriptions. Very good though, much better than I had hoped.

Bottle from systembolaget. It poured a pitch black liquid with a small dark brown head. Sweet smell, boozey and a bit of yeast. Similar taste with dark roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, wood and spiced bread. Interesting beer that was really nice to lean back and sip at.

Bottle at Pat’s birthday tasting at chriso’s. Pours a very oily brown with a faint, off-white head. Brownies, chocolate, dark malts in the nose. Very sweet flavor with tons of dark malt character, notes of cocoa, booze, some raisin, caramel. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet, sticky finish, roasted malts, chocolate cake. Not a saison in any way, but an excellent and dynamic beer none the less.

Per’s of course :D, oak edition 2010, shared with ogivlado and heavy. Poured a murky dark golden/amber body with a tiny white head. Eggy, yolky notes in the nose, malty overall with a noticable caramel presence, no alcohol, which is brilliant for the strength. Creamy candyish taste, soft, slightly eggy and buttery, milk caramel maltiness, glucose? raisins, slightly warming. Lovely, brilliantly balanced, with almost no indication of the alcohol strength in the taste except for the warmth.

2010 vintage. A thick almost black liquid with no head, or there are a few bubbles and they are light brown. There is a natural question after reading the descriptions below like ’hazy amber’: Have Monks Cafe poured different stuff in under the same label? Never mind, it’s a great brew with tonnes of flavor. The aroma and massive taste are similar but the nose is more about yeast and alcohol, while the mouth got more sweet raisins, prunes, licorice, roasted notes and a oaked touch of vanilla. Not much of a saison but probably one of the best Belgian Imp. stouts I’ve had (de Struise excluded, hence there are not much competition left)

25cl bottle, courtesy of and shared with Gnoff. Dur de se faire un opinion de cette bière, soit alors de suivre par style dans le dernier cas, cette bière est un raté complet ou alors jugé par ce que ce produit offre et alors, on y déguste une bonne bière. Orangée, brumeuse, fine mousse blanche. Arôme a un très beau bouquet de chêne, fruits et caramel, sucré allant sur liquoreux et résineux. En bouche, une bière liquoreuse, note de chêne avec un peu de houblon citronné. Malt offre un profile biscuité reste néanmoins très sucrée. On peut y distinguer des traces de levure belge, mais le tout reste couvert sous les 16% de cette bière. Reste assez fraîche sur les notes de houblon et épicéa. Une différente approche du style, extrême dans tous les sens du termes et du style Saison, bonne mais à partager.

250ml Bottle - Hazy amber with a small head. Apricot, leather, malt and alcohol in the aroma. Fruity, tangy and malty taste with notes of dried apricot, sultanas, leather, hops and some woody notes. Rather interesting and whilst it doesn’t taste weak, it doesn’t taste like it’s 16.1% either. I’ve heard good things about the Andersson brothers and I am looking forward to trying some more of their efforts in future.

Aroma is very malty and oaky. Very sweet with a good dose of oak flavor. Burns a bit on the way down. Almost like a barley wine. As a side note, this one might be a bit old.
