Bottle. Opaque dark brown/black liquid with minimal tan head that dissipates very fast. Monk’s have to work on their heads... Aroma of dark fruit, dark chocolate, licorice, dark roasted coffee, biscuit, caramel and raw sugar. Nice! Taste is medium sweet and light to medium bitter with notes of dark fruit, raw sugar and licorice. Weird sourness. Extremely full bodied with soft carbonation. Very velvety and oily. Nice but weirdly sour and a bit too oily.

(Bottle). Strong and slightly sour aroma and taste of roasted malt, sweet coffee, chocolate, alcohol, oak and licorice. The aftertaste has a dry bitterness and hints of warming alcohol. A beer with a complex flavor.

25cl bottle @ Monks Cafe Wallingatan, Stockholm. (Bottle said 13,5% ABV, aged on MacMyra Whiskey Barrels IBU 70). Pitch black, opaque color, very small light brown head. Smell dark and roasted malts, lightly alcohol, clearly barrel-aged: lots of wood and liquor. Taste dark malts, roasted malts, some coffee, medium bitter, slightly hops, wood and liquor. Very complex, very lovely! Oily texture, medium to full body, low but suitable carbo.

Received from GTH in our first trade together. Thanks Bosse! Pours a deep black with very little head formation, about a 1/4 fingers worth of caramel colored head. Nose is definitely of the Russian variety, it is heavy on the rich malt, dark fruit, and licorice. Flavor has a lot of similar themes to the nose, a lot of dark fruit and licorice. It is pretty dry as well. Mouthfeel is full, albeit a little thin. Carbonation is low and the beer coats the palate nicely. Nice beer! Not sure why this is called a Russian Imperial Porter as this is definitely a RIS, but it’s solid nonetheless.

rip2:Doftar kaffe, vanilj, choklad, nötter. Smaken är kraftfull och mycket trevlig. Kroppen är bastant. Balansen är finfin. Lång eftersmak. Fulländad - Jag är nöjd.
