Draft @ Monk’s American Bar, Stockholm. Pours golden orange and hazy, with little head. Aroma has a lot of grapefruit and red grapefruit. There is also caramel, flowery-like and spicy notes. Taste has strong twiggy and wooden notes, with less of caramel, grassy, flowery and buttery notes. Palate is dry and bitter, like an IPA should be. Dry, bitter and twiggy IPA, little flowery than most IPAs, and stands out a little with it.

Orange, lätt dimmig öl med gulvitt skum. Doften är en bra blandning av tropiska fukter, citrus och maltig sötma med kola. Samma återkommer i smaken med viss gräsighet i beskan.

Draught @ Monks Porter House, Stockholm, 6.5%. Pours hazy amber with small off-white head. Clear aroma of yeast and hops, with subtle buttery notes. Bitter, hoppy flavour, with notes of yeast and touches of citrus. Mildly bitter and estery aftertaste. Creamy mouthfeel. Not bad!

Monks Cafe Porterhouse. Very hazy amber beer, big white head. Palate is soft and airy and slightly dry. Soft airy creamy malt supports good hops. Pine and lesser grass, tangerine and a touch of yellow grapefruit. Finish is soft and fluffy! Medium bitter linger - good stuff!

In short: An golden IPA that tastes like sweet bitter orange peels. Good.
How: Tap at brewpub, Sveavägen location
The look: Almost clear golden body topped by a persistent small beige head leaving good lacings on the glass
In long: Nose is bright with mangos, burnt oranges and watermelon. Taste begins with sweet toasted malts, a bit on the sugary side with some caramel. More residual sugars than usual for the style, feels a bit crunchy sugary. Generous citrusy hopping dominated by oranges but also piney notes. Bitter finish that washes away the sweetness. With its sugary character, orange flavor hops and assertive bitterness this beer tastes like sweet bitter orange peels. I usually don’t like residual sugars in my lower gravity IPAs but it worked in this one with its overall flavor of sweet bitter orange peels. Decent beer. My last beer in Stockholm, a city with too many good beers and too many hot tall blond women, Stockholm has taught me that I’m a single man trapped in a married man’s body.

Hazy orange pour with a white head. Nose is sweet citrus hops with a mild tropical fruitiness. A touch of pine, some toffee and caramel malts, and a hint of pineapple. Light grassy notes with some toast, too. The flavor is a bit sweet. A fair amount of toast, bread, and toffee maltiness. Some pineapple, sweet citrus, and a touch of grapefruit. Mild bitterness on the finish with some hints of pine. Not bad.

Draught at Monk’s Café Sveavägen. Hazy, orange liquid with medium off-white head. Aroma of citrus, grapefruit, gooseberries, sweet tropical fruit and some malt (cereal and caramel). Taste is dry and medium bitter with some nice tangerine and caramel. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Decent IPA on the maltier side.

(Draught at Monk’s Whisky Paradise, 20120626) The beer poured deep orange and cloudy. It’s head was medium sized and white. Aroma had citrciness, malts and white bread. Palate was quite light bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were hops, citrcness, malts, sweetness, hint of pine and medium bitterness. Aftertaste was hoppy and bitter. A bit unbalanced beer and the taste was not so clean.

Draught at Monks Cafe. Clear amber - offwhite head. Grassy. Toasted. Ok bitterness. Light fruity. Zesty. Plain - just bitter, no flowery fresh hoppy. Plain bitter IPA.
