Having never tried commercial mead before, we went about making mead the same way we made beer: carbonated with very little sweetness. The first batch was horrible, completely disgusting. As stubborn as we are, we continued making mead again and again refusing to give up. Each batch was tweaked, the recipe tuned until we finally figured out our exact recipe that is as near perfection as mere mortals can make. So please sit back, relax, and take a load off - pop a cold mead and enjoy life.

10/3/15. Bottle at Bill’s Oktoberfest party! Clear golden with light fizz. Mild sweet aroma, faint floral honey aspect, mild white grape juice. Light flavor, mildly sweet, fizzy, faint floral honey aspect, white grape juice. Not bad, actually. Refreshing and drinkable.

UPDATED: NOV 9, 2015 [9/23/2013] Sample at J.U.G.S. Light, bubbly gold, with a minimal, white head. The aroma is light wheat, honey, lavender, and light caramel. The flavor is very sweet. Surprisingly light body, high carbonation, and lightly acidic. Overall, this is a delicious, champagne-like beer.

[11/7/2015] Sampled at the Decatur Wine Festival. Flavor is considerably dryer than I recall. The yeast character is reminiscent of a Tripel, or a witbier. Not as crisp as I remembered, but much heavier and creamier.

Lightly hazy golden yellow color with almost no lacing. Honey and apricot in the aroma. Crisp up front but a creamy mid palette. Lingering honey finish with just a slight burn.

Pours a luscious clear golden - no head, but this is mead. Honey aroma has subtle spice hints. Flavor is - oooooooooh, very sweet and yet not cloying, downright scrumptious! Not complex, but very tasty and accompanied by a nip of alcohol. Smooth texture is syrupy and firm. Of all the mead I’ve tried, this is the best.

On tap. Pours a clear pale yellow with a white head that starts and remains at the edges. Aroma has sweet honey with a hint of apple/sweet light fruit backed by a bit of champagne dryness. Flavor begins sweet with honey and a hint of light sweet fruit but the finish adds a dry champagne note.

32oz Growler from Crafty Draught, $15. Golden yellow hue. Light fizz. Aroma of honey and alcohol, some herbal notes. Taste of sweet honey, even some pale malts. A good amount of burn, as the ABV is kinda high. Impressive local honey wine, proud to have a Georgia Meadry. Finishes like a mead, smooth, notes of fermented honey. Overall, tastes of a Braggot.
