3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Careful ...a bit of a gusher. Interesting flavor. Some apple, hebs and malts. Not too sweet nor boozy.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Beers of Europe. Amber brown in colour, huge carbonation (actually mild gusher, but I caught it!) and thick white head - actually settled perfectly in my Rochefort glass. I suppose you could call this a standard Belgian ale - it’s sweet malts, spicy yeast, floral spicy hop, moderately bitter finish, nice balance. And yet it was soft, fluffy and tasty; for some reason better than I expected.

Pours a hazy medium brown body with a medium head. Faint yeasty aroma. Nice and balanced taste with tones from malt.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Mont des Cats has a thin-to-medium, off-white, spongy head, very tight, fast bubble streams, a murky, orange appearance, and not much lacing left on the sides of the glass. The aroma is of mellow, sweet, spiced bread, bread crust, and possibleysome sugar. Taste is of those elements, with some yeast and light fruits, such as dates or figs. Mouthfeel is light to medium and prickly, and Mont des Cats finishes crisp, easy going, and not at all boozy. So good! RJT

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Belle robe orange-brun avec ce qu’il faut de mousse. En bouche on retrouve des note caramélisées avec un peu d’amertume en début de gorgée. Belle bière ambrée, qui plus est trappiste.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
75 cl bottle from covered market in Lille, shared. Darkish amber color, cloudy, with floating particles. Good off white head with long retention and some lacing. Aroma’s: grain/malts upfront. Retronasal there’s also some sweetness, spices, yeast and some cork (being from a 75 cl bottle...). Flavor is light to moderate sweet, grain-ish, herbal/spices. Medium bodied. Finishes with herbs, moderate bitterness and something nutty (chestnut/beechnut). Nothing spectacular, but good enough.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Clearly a beer from the Chimay-family: Dense, long-lasting head. Same yeast as the Chimays. Rich tasting, high-quality amber beer.
