Cuivrée, col fin beige-blanc cassé.
Arôme est ici en faveur du houblon qui m’a marque d’emblée. Note fleuri et herbacée le tout suivi par ce bouquet type de barley wine; caramel, malté accompagnés de fruité noir léger.
Palais reste de premier abord dominé par le houblon. Ceci étant, je note tout de même le caractère malté, caramel suivi d’une certaine douceur. Mais le profil général reste plus centré sur le houblon avec ici un côté tropical de mangue voire papaye. Le tout procure un fini houblonné huileux et résineux en fin de bouche et ce collant sucré aux lèvres typique des barley. A voir comment cela peu évoluer et les houblons s’atténuer.

Draft. A dark amber beer with a yellowish head. The aroma has notes of over ripe fruits, malt, caramel, and alcohol. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel, alcohol, and over ripe fruits, leading to a dry finish.

Tap @ Borefts 2012. Taken from notes. Had a talk with the brewer, full of passion but in his early brewing phase. And that shows in the beer. Is far from a barley wine for me, a bit thin and bitter.

On tap at Borefts BF 2012, Bodegraven. Pours rich ruby with a fine, white foam head. Lots of dried fruits in the nose, subtle leather. Big sweet flavor with dry caramel and leathery fruits. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Moderately warming finish with more leathery fruits, dirt, a bit of dirty toffee. OK.

33cl bottle pours with a crystal clear amber body with copper hues and supporting a thin tan head of foam. The aroma offers up boozy raisins as well as prunes and a sort of yeasty spiciness leaning toward being clove like. It might also be a mix of yeast and booziness. The taste is straight up old school English barleywine with raisins, cherries and prunes mixing booziness that’s short of being robust as well as micro thin layers of sweet caramel here and there that is noticed for very brief moments. Yep, boozy and it gets a little harsh with booze into the finish but I don’t find this outside of the intended style.

Poured with a copper color and a small, tan head. Alcohol jumps out right away, but vanilla, caramel, grapes are also present. Sweet fruity / herby taste, a bit too much for me personally. Sweet long lasting aftertaste.

Alkoholischer Geruch, würzig alkoholischer Beginn, etwas herb. Dann flacher werdend, spritig, unausgewogen. Zum Ende etwas runder, was aber immer noch nicht den Eindruck eines durchdachten Bieres vermittelt. 8/6/7/7//6

Bottle from Bierkoning. Sharp caramel body with thin, oily head. Nose is sweet, alcy, caramel. Taste is similar, sweet, punchy with caramel and yeasty notes. Quite spicy. Kicks up in the finish. Good stuff!

Copper bodied and small head. Raisins, dough, humous and caramel. Raw bitterness, not as sweet as expected but rich humous flavour. (Bottle brought to Deanso’s tasting)
