Pours deep mahogany into a snifter. Mocha head with little retention recedes to mottle surface. Rubber band and smoke aromas. Thick with bacon and smoke front to back turning dry and thin in the lasting toasted pit fruit finish.

Bouteille 33cl, BB 05/2014. Props for the cool retro label, I dig the design.

Poured almost black with a small brown head. Smoke, ash, roasted malts dominates the aroma with hints of charcoal, oak, and herbs. Almost flat, medium body and a fairly bitter finish.

Rating #2700, Bottle 33cl, a dark beer with low head. Nose is smoked like, aroma is nicely smoked, dark malt, ashes, but body is low and dry so the whole is a bit too roasted like and unbalanced. Good try for a French brewery anyway.

(33 cl bottle from Chez Clem; Lot #1 BBD: August 2014) Pours black with medium, tan head that diminishes leaving some lace. Good regeneration. Aroma is peaty smoky rounded off very smoothly by the roasted malts, which are probably what reminds me a bit of a Limfjordsporter in this one. Watery texture, medium carbonation with a medium body and a light, dark and roasted finish. Taste is light, roasted dark with a little bitterness and not much in the way of smoke. A well crafted, French beer in a (for me) difficult category. I probably wouldn’t mind a bit more body in this one, though.

Countbeer (4301) - Best of E-Town mit ein Brauhaus, NETHERLANDS - DEC 27, 2012
Bottle: Medium to small creamy beige head which disappears completely and leaves a headless dark brown colored beer in the glass. Smell leather, some coal and smoke. Taste smoke, leather, some sweets like caramel and light liquorice, smoked wood, some smoked and toasted malts, some smoked herbs and a hint of banana. Aftertaste is more bitter than in the taste with some thin hints of coal and malts. Low carbo, light watery mouthfeel, medium body and a light creamy but more watery texture.
