3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Jet black. Firm creamy choco head. Clean dark malts to the nose. Soft and rounded with mild roast and coffee/chocolate. A hint of higher alcohols. Healthy body, easy on the palate. A distinct roastiness in the flavor. Yet fairly smooth and rounded, like the aroma. A good amount of bitterness, both from malts and hops. Finishes malty with a roasty bite. Straightforward and tasty. [Enjoyed from a 0.33 l bottle]

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle shared by Tom. Opaque black pour with nice brown head. Aroma is again quite perfumey but it seems more appropriate in this context with the style, nice chocolatey notes (dark), vanilla, chilies some tropical fruits. Taste is chocolatey, roasty, not very sweet, a bit dry even. Palate is strangely light, as much as both previous beers were too heavy for style, this one was too light. It was still quite easily drinkable though, and I quite preferred it to the other two.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle (330 ml). Very dark brown with a medium mostly lasting beige head and some lacing. Aroma is of perfume hops (the third bottle of Mont Salève we try tonight and those 3 had perfume hops), roasted malt, vanilla beans, light caramel and chocolate notes. Taste is also of roasted malt, light sweetness, moderate bitterness, chocolate, caramel and perfume notes. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. The two previous Mont Salève we had (Lager and Black Indians) were to heavy for the style, but this one is a tad too light. Quite tasty though.
