puzzl (1651), New York, New York, USA Jul 20, 2008 Bottle shared (and bought) by Haukur. Black pour with a nice head looks like a stout. Aroma has much candi sugar and fruit sweetness, with an odd mustard seed thing going on. Oaty taste, with a great body, some bitter malts and dark chocolate. Some spice and mint. Deeply complex. Like a cross between a strong, dry stout and a sweet barleywine. Delicious. JoeMcPhee (3643), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Jul 19, 2008 Thanks to haukur for sharing this bottle. Deep brown beer with a light creamy tan head. Aroma is quite lovely, deep rich plummy aroma over sweet toasted malts, chewy molasses, plums/dates and even some sweet dried cherries. Soft tartness on the middle of the palate which helps with the inherent sweetness of this brew. Quite silky mouthfeel. The finish is lightly tannic and full of fruit skin character. Light toasted raisins with a lingering vineousness. Complex and quite tasty. Comes across more like a Belgian strong ale than barley wine, but whatever you call it, it is quite good. DenverLogan (420), Oceanside, California, USA Jul 11, 2008 Dark brown, small head. Burnt malt aroma. Flavors of molassas, minerals, tropical fruit, slight spice, cola, raisin and bittersweet chocolate. gnoff (2532), Göteborg, Sweden Jul 6, 2008 (Bottle at a beer tasting at rickgordon in Göteborg) On July 5, 2008 Very dark red to black color, light brown head.
