Panama City Beach Fl - Chan’s Wine World (brought back by my wife) - 750 ml paper-wrapped capped bottle. Pours a dark copper, slightly murky with an ever present silky white head. Aroma slightly boozy but nice, with some honey accents and a hint of cognac. Flavor is full bodied and not cloying or overly sweet. Pick up some honey accents, a bit of caramel, some cognac-like liqueur notes, Some faint fruity notes round it out - plums and nectarines come to mind. Thick, velvety rich mouthfeel. Overall, excellent.

750ml split by Gene at DC tasting. Thick orange-brown, some floaty chunks. Malt centered, some candy orange nuances, maybe some slight caramelly diacetyl. Unexceptional, but rather sessionable for the ABV. Slight watery mouthfeel which complements the smooth malty tones. Orange clove Smooth, somewhat nutty. OK.

Tasted on 10/4/11 from a 750mL bottle. Pours cloudy dark brown with a tint of orange, and a thin, bubbly beige head that slowly settles into nothing more than a thin, bubbly collar of lace. The nose is caramel, toffee, a grapey vinous aroma, a hint of lightly burnt brown sugar, and a bit of an herbal note as well. The flavor is dry with bitter burnt brown sugar, herbal notes, toffee, caramel, black pepper, and the same grapey vinous flavor from the nose. The body is medium with light carbonation and a long bitter burnt brown sugar, black pepper, and vinous finish.

(Sample Date: 2/6/2011 Source:Other) Caramelized sugars with earthy spiciness. Cloudy dark golden with rocky white head. Earthy spicy caramel flavor. Strong…close to barley wine in strength with lots of spicy yeast character. Medium body and mouth feel. Finish is medium sweet with light residual bitterness.

Bottle at Eataly store, Bologna, Italia 26.02.11 Pours murky brown some medium carbonation, with a rim of bubbles. Soft in the mouth with a honey sweetness, not getting much spice, there is a hint of the tropical about this and I get some fruit, possibly banana. Very good. Shared with Dad & Barry. Bottle from City Beer. Pours murky copper with an attractive beige head and a fruity aroma. There is a rich caramel malt flavor with an infusion of roasted chestnut and a bitter hop finish. It’s a complex brew, but the pieces don’t mesh real well. Nevertheless, an interesting drink.
