Bottle @ home. Pours hazy dark orange with a small, frothy off-white head, short retention with light lacing. Aroma is heavy phenols of bandage and bubble gum, cracker and biscuit malt with earthy hops and pear esters. Flavor is phenolic with light malt, faint hops, a lactic tartness, cherries, light bitterness, pear esters and a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation with an astringent feel, light alcohol warmth and no creaminess.

(375ml bottle thanks to bu11zeye) clearish amber with a ring of fine white bubbles. Nose is vinous, wet wood, grapey, funky, horseblanket. Taste of caramel, alcohol, wine, vinous, barrel, wood tannins. Finish is a bit harsh/astringent, very tannic, medium-to-light carbonation.

12 oz. bottle to snifter. Pours clear bright amber with a quick white soapy head that dissipates to a faint wispy film. Aroma has a lovely sweet tartness of wood vanilla and sour sugar (very subtle and smooth). Taste is crisp and clean with a bitter subtle tartness of apples and grape peel and leather that leaves you with dry woodiness. Palate is medium and refreshingly crisp with a gentle carbonation and leaving a drying finish. Very smooth and enjoyable beer with an awesome balance being 8.5 % alcohol. I would consider buying again!

Tasted at the Triple Rock Sour and Barrel Aged Fest on 2/12/2011. This Belgian Strong Ale pours a medium amber orange gold color from the bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is fruity and sweet, tons of oak and brett. A medium bodied Belgian Strong Ale. The malts are fruity and sweet, oak and funk. The hops are earthy and floral. Very smooth. Nicely balanced. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

Clear golden pour with white head. Slightly sour acidic notes, which I attributed to the wine barrels. Didn’t really delve too deeply into this one, but It was definitely not worth the price.
