Taste is a nice mix of honey, vanilla, biscuit, hints of sour apple, slight vinegar, hints of funky notes, finishing pretty sharp, slightly dry. Very interesting.

Amber-orange color. Acetic and yellow fruit aroma, orange and yeast. At taste is light bitter and also light sour.

Thanks to Manuele’s generosity at Makke! Pour is burnt caramel in color with a thin large bubbly tan head. Nose is oaky and vinous, sweet berries in the noes with notes of alcohol in back. Taste is a bit less oaky and more red wine characteristics with plenty of berries and dark grapes. Mild malt presence leaning towards the sweet fruity side and a tinge of heat in the finish. Medium body, soft and smooth with an assertive carbonation and crisp finish.

Bottle. Thanks to KyotoLefty. Strong sourish, barrel (wine) aromas. Beautiful deep golden orange color. Big initial hit of sweet&sour, goes to rich sour apples and bitterness in mid palate, and final is smooth and warming. Just a tiny hint of some oxidation. Tart, smooth, and refreshing. The barrel aging really works; it doesn’t overpower the other flavors, but rather complements them well.

2008 bottle from Domus Birrae. Cloudy orange-amber, nice thick lace. Tangy fruit and vinegar nose, citrus, cherry, light carmel. Sweet-and-sour flavor, cherry, caramel, nuts, pepper, spice. Refreshing. Cleanly sour. Peppery, bitter finish. Nice move from sour to bitter. Well balanced and very drinkable. Love it.
