COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Six months in a Barbera wine barrel give time for this beer to be eaten up by the yeasts living in the wood, maturing it and rounding it out. Pleasantly sour, a great mixed fermentation beer.

Beware of the Italians, this country is producing great beers since a few years. This one from Piemonte has matured on Barbera wine battles and has refermented with wine yeast - again an attempt to link the northern European beer culture with mediterranean wine culture. The result is a practically headless beer with cloudy golden blonde colour, boasting a complex aroma of obviously white wine, peach, apricot, wood, sherry, hay, jute, lemon juice, white grapes and something funky. Sourish, fruity taste, dry, vinous, ’wild’ and a bit lambic-like, complex, sherry, hay, citrus, sour cream, dry sourish, wine-like finish, long. Wonderfully complex, impetuous marriage of beer and wine.

Cloudy lemon body, very little head. Lovely vinous sour vinegar and lemon aroma, woodsiness as well. Taste is not overly sour, kind of has a lactose finish, with some fruitiness. Nice beer.

Pours clear gold into a snifter. White frothy head hug rim. Funky earth and sourdough aromas. Thin with dry lemon zest and funk upfront turning to sour summer fruits in the medium length finish.

21/09/2013 Brasserie 4:20 (handpump), 2009 vintage. Dorata, torbida, opalescente, schiuma leggerissima a bolle grossolane. Corpo medio-leggero, carbonazione soft. La Mummia si conferma un capolavoro!

Bottle. Golden with small white head. Aroma heavy with barnyard and not much else. Taste is barney at fir, the a wave of sourness which finishes long, a bit sour and malty. Decent

Bottle from Pangaea in Sacramento, CA. Pours translucent gold with very little head. Aroma is very barnyard. Med body. Flavor is not so barnyard as the aroma suggested, but it is very. Very. Yet it is almost smooth and mild. Finishes "Pleasantly sour".

2009 bottle from New Beer. Pours cloudy gold with white head ring. Nose and taste of wood, diluted lemon juice, wild yeast, pear, apple and white wine barrel. Very light on the palate. Very subtle and ever so slightly acidic.

Bottle shared at Ma Che Siete Fenuti a Fà. Clear yellow small white head. Aroma has barnyard, sour vinegar, lactic acid, apples, some grapes. Smooth and soft mouthfeel. Really acidic at first but leaves some sweetness in aftertaste.

Aroma of barnyard funk; sour and earthy. Taste is tolerable at first, but a vile and gag-inducing level of Brett hits in the finish. Off-balance. I did not expect to go gaga over the sour ale style, but this is worse than anticipated.
