COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A deliciously dark beer conditioned in American oak pinot noir barrels. Meticulously monitored to achieve optimum balance of oak and pinot, overlaid with the rich, malty dark flavours of the porter. Racked off and filtered with a final flourish of dry hops to add a slight edge. Perfect for that moment when you sit down to a Sunday roast.

Aroma was chocolate powder and cocoa. It took a few swirls and sniffs before some plum came out but then the chocolate immediately washed it away. Not much, if any, coffee. Taste is pretty typical porter, for me dominated by cocoa powder in the middle, and the dry powdery-ness at the finish. Easy drinking and just on the right side of blandness.

Dark black in colour with thin white head. Thin chocolate/coffee aroma. Smooth coffee flavour with slight acid aftertaste. Tingly tongue.

Velvety smooth chocolate taste with a dry palate from the pinot noir barrel aging. The beer is pleasant, easy to drink and appealing to a more sophisticated palate ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Golden-brown, thin head, toasty-crackery aroma. Toasty palate, moderate bitterness, accents of burnt fruit. Ok, finishes quite woody.

a bit of roastiness, but other than that, pretty flavourless and a little on the thin side too. uninteresting, though i suppose i wouldn’t complain if i got given this again.

Bottle from Mane Liquor. A very mediocre porter and I fail to see any notes that resemble barrel ageing but it’s not a complete disaster. A very dry chocolatey finish. Solid but nothing to wow me

Dry grape must and slight cardboard oxidation on the nose of this deep ruby beer. Medium bodied, fairly sweet dry acidic tingle on tip of tongue. This should have been blended with fresh beer rather than force carbonated, a struggle to enjoy.

Fizzy head that dies quickly. I commented to my wife that this was like a soda. Nice enough for the price but not an actual craft beer but more a big Brewers take on a craft beer. Sessionable.

500ml bottle, a little too cold perhaps. Pour is a slightly translucent dark brown with a disappointing fizzy head that settles quickly to nothing. Nose is piney hops, bit of roastiness and some sweet sugary fruit. Slightly slick, decently robust mouthfeel carries a fairly straightforward flavour of by-the-numbers porter. Theres a slight fizz that seems a bit out of place. I get some woody oakiness in the finish alright, otherwise short and uncomplex. Hides the booze quite well. Ho-hum, better than the totally bland stuff these usually put out I suppose.
