2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
(Bottle) Appears black, but is very dark ruby, with a short lived beige head. Aroma is hints of chocolate and raisins. Medium body and medium carbonation. Flavour is simple and light starting with some dark roast malt and finishing with some bitterness. Itís an easy drinking dark beer; pleasant enough but disappointing - deserving of faint praise.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Dark brown/black with a beige head. Oaky, nutty roasted aroma. Taste is really empty. Itís nice, of smoke and roast, but so thin. Not a bad attempt - but not great.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours like post-mix Coke. Black, fizzy, no real head to speak of. Aroma is sweet, dark caramel, weak coffee. Taste is burnt caramel/toffee, dark chocolate bitterness, toasty, a little sour. Overall not unpleasant - quite light body, not oily, but a touch too much carbonation.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
(bottle) Poured with prickly overcarbed head. Black colour, chocolate and roast notes. Not much hop presence. A little watery. Dry aftertaste.
Not my idea of a Schwarzbier, more like a lager-drinkerís idea of stout.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: OCT 31, 2012 This beer pours as a deep brown, opaque liquid with a frothy tan head that subsided quickly. The aroma is a roasted coffee, with burnt caramel and overall a bit like molasses. The taste is quite sour with a little bit of saltiness. This is a medium bodied beer with a light palate and a gentle fizziness and a burnt after-taste. Overall this is a great Schwarz beer with that great burnt flavour but seems a bit watered down. It is readily available and a pretty good offering for something you donít have to go far too find.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours dark chestnut coffee with a decent creamy tan head. The aroma brings some bread and sweet malt flavors. The flavor is a bit bland bringing some lightly toasted sweet malts.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 14/20
Chocolate and caramel undertones, almost suggestive of coffee and cake. Dark, opaque body with a thick lacy head. Earthy , bitter, taste. Evocative of molasses. Lingering. Overall a thin body, not with the richness and fat, oily finish inherent in a stout. Not a bad drop overall

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours black with a decent sized khaki head that leaves some lacing. Aromas and flavors of dark chocolate, coffee, ash and roasted caramel. Body is too thin and watery with a slightly creamy finish. Overall a pretty standard Schwarzbier; nothing special but it gets the job done.
