COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The mellow malt in this Imperial Pilsner is married with a clean sharp bitterness from a blend of four hop varieties. Crisp and refreshing with a touch of delicate noble hops to linger on the palette.

Very refreshing for a 7% AVB beer. It's medium body is well balanced with sweet malts and hops. Finisheswith a nice honey taste.

Gold pour with a thick white head. Aroma is malty, slightly spicy, with a bit of grassiness. Taste is malty, grapefruit, bitter, but not really very well balanced. Not my favourite

Nose is of caramelised citrus almost burnt sugar with a strange nail varnish twist usually reserved for high alcohol Polish lagers. Cannot fault it in the glass; a seemingly misty, sunny orange gold with fine, scarce effervescence. A tight, rocky, inch and a half of snow-white foam settles in atop and daubs a wickedly thick lace. And that’s where I should have stopped things. Tart, sweet, fruity astringency like sucking on spent white grape skins twists the palate into a frenzied spasm. Another sip and, oh yeah, this one is rockin’ hard to quaff. Sugary, but in an artificial way with a chemical back bone and sharp bitterness that doesn’t meld well. Lasting, layering, filmy aftertaste of burnt fruit sugars and cheap wine - I mean really cheap. Alcohol is hot - fusel hot. How is this imperial? I’d favour a sixer of Skol over this. Hate to say it but is Monteith’s f&*ken serious pumping out chloroform meets drainpour such as this!? Not good!! (50cL, BBE 04/14, Dan Murphy’s Currambine)

Pour is magnificent, lightly hazy amber with crisp white head. Aroma is slightly carboard and muddled fruits. Flavour is a big hit of grapefruit and big bitter finish, it reminds me of a Leffe Blonde for some reason, there is a bit of alcohol heat at the finish.

From a 500ml bottle on 30/3/2014 (shared by Butz with thanks). Pours a slightly cloudy light golden with a big white head. The aroma is grassy with a touch of fruity hops. The taste brings you bready malt and lots of citrus fruit, particularly grapefruit. The lingering bitterness ends up prevailing against the sweet fruitiness which starts up front. Actually pretty good, with decent amount of character.

The head is ok, body blond. It smells malty, bit hoppy, creamy, bitter. The taste is hoppy-bitter, stale, bit metal, bit malty. Not my taste...

(Bottle) Average to below average beer. Golden colour white head that dissapear pretty quickly. Malt, fruit and cumin in the aroma. Sweet and fruity taste with very light bitter background. Week bitter finish with hint of the alcohol warmth. Medium body and high carbonation. There are some hints of real imperial pilsner, but not enough for me.

Bottle. Pours light straw colour. Smooth mouthfeel with malt and surprising hop presence. Light and enjoyable, but not overly interesting.
