2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle - pours pale gold with a big white head. Aroma is skunky with some cereal malt. Some sweet need up front and a very mild dry finish, not much to it. Mouthfeel is thin to medium.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Tastes like a continental lager, but with American pale ale style hops. Unfortunately not as good as either.

Must be a stale batch - no head and tastes like Lion Red, which is not a good thing. Monteith’s, are you going to sort me out with a replacement so I can judge it properly? I tipped it down the drain

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 12/20
A fine drop. Well deserved Imperial name - with its 7% ABV. Good hops evident. Will have another one in preference to that rubbish from Speights.

2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
500mL bottle BB 05/14
Pours a pale orange straw body, big foam atop.
Restrained sort of nose; floral hop, touch of spice, with some oxidised malts & overly ripe stonefruit.
Soft carbonation, kind of syrupy, chalky, soap, touch odd. Alcohol apparent.
Falls to bits on the body; oxidised malty notes of browned apple & cardboard, bit whack of corny DMS, some floral hop but bitterness is abrasive, fusel alcohol finish.
Had some promise, lost it - poorly made, unnecessarily strong.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Cellarbrations November 2013. Dark amber colour when poured into the glass. This is a beer that has a decent flavour and is full in the mouth.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Gold pour with a thick white head. Aroma is malty, slightly spicy, with a bit of grassiness. Taste is malty, grapefruit, bitter, but not really very well balanced. Not my favourite

1.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 2/20
Nose is of caramelised citrus almost burnt sugar with a strange nail varnish twist usually reserved for high alcohol Polish lagers. Cannot fault it in the glass; a seemingly misty, sunny orange gold with fine, scarce effervescence. A tight, rocky, inch and a half of snow-white foam settles in atop and daubs a wickedly thick lace. And that’s where I should have stopped things. Tart, sweet, fruity astringency like sucking on spent white grape skins twists the palate into a frenzied spasm. Another sip and, oh yeah, this one is rockin’ hard to quaff. Sugary, but in an artificial way with a chemical back bone and sharp bitterness that doesn’t meld well. Lasting, layering, filmy aftertaste of burnt fruit sugars and cheap wine - I mean really cheap. Alcohol is hot - fusel hot. How is this imperial? I’d favour a sixer of Skol over this. Hate to say it but is Monteith’s f&*ken serious pumping out chloroform meets drainpour such as this!? Not good!! (50cL, BBE 04/14, Dan Murphy’s Currambine)

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pour is magnificent, lightly hazy amber with crisp white head. Aroma is slightly carboard and muddled fruits. Flavour is a big hit of grapefruit and big bitter finish, it reminds me of a Leffe Blonde for some reason, there is a bit of alcohol heat at the finish.
