There’s plenty of rich maltiness from this Pale Ale and higher-kilned malt combination. The Cascade and special New Zealand hops create a fruity aroma with a dose of bitterness to drive home the hop flavour. A beer for the IPA aficionado with a distinctly Kiwi style. Perfect for a moment spent catching up with old mates.

33cl bottle from Albert Heijn. Bright copper colored beer with a white head that disappears quickly, low carbonation. Tastes is not so bitter for an IPA. There are hop aromas, fruity, floral. Bitter sweet afthetaste.

Bottle at home. Aroma is malty, caramel, toffee, hint of old hops. Flavour is moderate to medium sweet with a little bitterness in the finish. Body is medium. How is this an IPA? Dull and malty toffee beer.

330 ml. bottle sampled @ home. Purchased at Albert Heijn. BBF 12-11-16. Near clear bright amber, orange hue, off-white faintly tanned milky head. Nose is this weird massive sweetness, cauliflower, stevia, white sugar, vanilla corn, bit sickening (I am completely disregarding the intended style here). Taste is this sweet plastic, vanillin, corn, cauliflower, sickening cardboard, toffee, paper, chemical bitterness, herbs, stevia,… Weird massively oily, vegetable oil body. Wow this one is a real train wreck, easily one of the worst IPA’s I have ever had, this profile is just not enjoyable, this weird sickening sweet flavors, yikes. What possessed Albert Heijn to even taken this beer?

Copenhagen 11/4 2016. 33 cl bottle from Meny. Simple label with drawing of a shovel and a declaration that this is a part of the "Brewer's Series". Whatever that means. Pours slightly hazy golden yellow with big white head. Settles as 3 cm thick layer of foam. Moderate lacing. Aroma is fruity with some grape fruit, fermented sweet fruit and a slightly unpleasant metallic tinge. Soft carbonation and slightly thick palate. Taste is dominated by bitterness. Only subdued fruity sweetness. A bit one dimensional and the low carbonation makes it seem a bit flat.

Bottle from an Albert Heijn supermarket. Medium thick, off-white, moussy, lightly lacing head over a deep and warm amberish orange coloured, cristal clear beer with vivid fizz. Aroma of toasted bread, melting butter, iron but not obnoxiously so, dried flowers, white pepper, sweaty grains, hazelnut. Straightforward malt fruitiness but very low in yeast fruitiness, very clean, softish carbo, nutty malts apparent from the start, a tad metallic in the middle, buttery texture, soft hoppy finish with retronasal floral qualities, bit leafy, medium long but still the nutty malt ’bittersweetness’ prevails. Nice and clean enough and in some ways an ’old’ English style IPA, refreshing and crisp, but simple. I guess people expecting a ’new’ American style IPA will be hugely disappointed by this, but I kind of liked it, regardless.

The beer has a IPA look. A nice layer of rough foam forms on top of the beer. It collapses quite fast. Little drapes of foam remain on top of the beer. The color is a nice amber. The beer is very clear and has an almost amber appearance. The beer doesn’t look very lively. The smell is simple. It is very bitter and misses some of the fruitiness an IPA can have. There is a very bitter, earthy hop aroma. It is not as nice as most IPA’s. The taste is also slightly less than in most cases. I miss the rich fruity and tropical hop aromas. There are only earthy hops in this beer. The palate is normal, with normal amounts of mass. It is a nice beer, but not a top player.

Bottled. The aroma is light grassy, light grainy, some toffee. Clear, amber coloured beer with a thin, white head. The taste is light bitter, has some grainy sweetness. Needs more hops.
