On tap at hotel in Auckland. Served a deep golden color with a nice head that fades to some lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, some caramel and a bit of dark fruit. Taste of roasted malt with caramel sweetness and dark fruit. Mild bitterness and a clean finish. medium body, quite smooth with a slightly grainy texture. Enjoyable beer but nothing fancy.

330ml bottle. Solid malty characteristic tending to the dark crystal malt range, with notes of caramel. Good body, complex ale fruitiness and a significant hoppy aftertaste.

Bottle looks really good. Beer in the glass zippy, nice head. Starts mild-malty, not too roasty, fine dry notes. Light hints of caramel. Finish still mild but not washy, well balanced malty. Nice!

EithCubes (4699) - New Jersey, USA - JUL 9, 2012
Bottle by AUG-12. Nose of sweet and lightly fruity caramel with lighter dark/burned notes. Body a nice, gradient amber with an ephemeral tan head. Taste is lightly sweet, caramel/toffee with light earth and light bitterness, lightish body a little fizzy. Monteiths seems to produce its share of easy-drinkers.

A very nondescript beer with light carbonation. Not much happening on the flavour front.
