Monteith’s Pilsner Beer is a Bohemian-style lager in the heritage of extremely hopped blonde beers brewed in parts of Eastern Europe. It has a complex hop aroma and a rich hop bitterness characteristic of this tradition in brewing.
Monteith’s Pilsner Beer has a malty quality that includes smooth caramel characteristics from the use of Vienna-style crystal malts. The key flavour is its enormous hop character, crafted around this complex malt flavour.

Bottle from Cask & Still, Edinburgh. Light yellow, decent off-white head. Mild aroma of lemon, cornmeal, hay: not particularly enticing. Taste is sweet but more saccharin than sugar, like an own-brand diet soda. Slight bitterness for temperance. Aftertaste is sweet with an added acrid medicinal note. Just can’t get into this beer. It is refreshing but that’s all I can really say.

330ml bottle (Viking Line). Clear amber color. Huge size, white head, stays. Very malty, perfume, dusty in aroma. Sweet and dusty malty taste. Maltiness is overwhelming. Typical Monteiths.

330ml bottle (Viking Line)
Golden, persistent tight white head. Simple light lagery aroma, a bit dusty. Taste is a complete mess. Dirty malts, harsh acidic bitterness. Finish is rough and hash, very metallic and chemical. For a lager, not a total disaster, but this being vaguely drinkable reinforces my opinions of them not being ale brewers, as their ales suck donkey balls.

Bye, bye, adios. Aldrig mer detta bryggeri.

Bottle @ White Swan, Hebden Bridge. Golden with a carbonation and a thin head. Malty enough pilsner, although certainly not heavy in any of its characteristics.

Erzengel (6248) - Wuppertal, GERMANY - APR 26, 2015
Fresh smooth malty beginning. Hints of grain, hints of bitterness. Not too deep and fresh, but nice and round. Malty smooth, not too intense bitter. A typical Bohemian Pilsner, but not a too intense or deep.
