2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 Muggus69 (885) - Newcastle, NSW, AUSTRALIA - JUL 31, 2007
330ml bottle. Minimal sort of aroma, some hops maybe. Pours a clean golden body with a white head. Body is reasonably light. It has a nice hop bite to it; citrusy and grassy. Dry finish, tiny bit of lingering bitterness. Not much to it but pilsnerish enough to suffice.
2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 ChrisTurner (204) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - MAY 28, 2007
Bottle -- A pale yellow brew with a large, sudsy white head with poor retention. It lives up to its name (Monteith’s Lively Pilsner Beer) with the glass full of bubbles. Little lacing. Aroma is very lagerish and lightly malty with some fruit. Flavour leaves a bit to be desired, with some of that typical pils bitterness present but spoiled by a watery palate. This simply lacks oomph. Nothing speical and not as good as the other Monteith’s brews I’ve tasted.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 bozoNZ (715) - Christchurch, NEW ZEALAND - MAR 28, 2007
Draught. Straw golden, milky head. Slight soapy texture with pineapple/melon like notes. Short finish - disappointing.

Very ordinary for a so called pils. More like a commercial lager to my tastes. Suprised because this brand has previously delivered.

Did this have Saaz hops in it? I had no idea from thew taste. Drinkable but only if there is nothing better available.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 MoritzF (7835) - Bochum, GERMANY - MAY 2, 2006
(bottle) Clear golden colour with a short foamy white head. Moderately sweet malty and herbal hoppy aroma with a touch of honey. Medium dry and soft malty taste, light to medium body, crispy carbonation; dry-ish, slightly hop-bitter finish. Clean and drinkable, but all in all a rather bland Bohemian Pilsener.
2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Stew41 (1580) - Woodend, AUSTRALIA - JAN 18, 2006
Not a bad beer. Pours a fairly standard macro looking golden amber with poor head. Falls on the malty side of the pilsner genre with a slightly tired, musty nose and a medium bitter / hoppy palate. Reminds me of quite a few mainstream Czech beers.
2.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 voota (765) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - DEC 26, 2005
UPDATED: MAY 2, 2006 Pours a golden coulour, with a tiny white head, poor retention and average lacing.
Aroma is very grassy and ’raw’.
The mouthful is quite malty, and the bitter finish rounds off the beer reasonably well.
A average pilsener.

Blond color. Very light malty aroma. Quite dry, light flavor of eggs, some malt, a bit metallic, quite strong bitterness at the end, not aromatic. Mediocre.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 bridge (659) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - SEP 18, 2005
Poured golden yelow with a light frothy head. Left virutally no lacing. Some saaz in the aroma, along with some faint toffee notes. Bitter dry finish with a bit of a yeasty aftertaste. Not too bad really, but not a really challenging beer. Then again, that’s probably what the aim is...
