Monteith’s Pilsner Beer is a Bohemian-style lager in the heritage of extremely hopped blonde beers brewed in parts of Eastern Europe. It has a complex hop aroma and a rich hop bitterness characteristic of this tradition in brewing.
Monteith’s Pilsner Beer has a malty quality that includes smooth caramel characteristics from the use of Vienna-style crystal malts. The key flavour is its enormous hop character, crafted around this complex malt flavour.

The head is medium, the body gold. It smells malty, less hoppy, less interesting. The taste is malty, a bit hoppy-bitter, quite boring.

Sweet corn, DMS and saccharine with a stagnant hoppiness and a dirtiness of dust bunnies. Harsh carbonation with equally harsh malt texture, something similar to warm high carbonic acid seltzer water cut with simple syrup. A lot of poorly made NA beers have this character. There’s no hop aroma, only a stale, leafy bitterness in the finish with lingering apple-y acetaldehyde.

Dervock (467) - Emu plains, AUSTRALIA - JAN 7, 2014
Bottle - pale gold with small white head. Doughy, earthy aroma, with something spicy. Definitely not like a pilsner, fairly drab taste, some sweetness, none of the hop aroma or taste.

On tap at the brewery in Greymouth, NZ Excellent clarity in this light amber ale. Both flavor and aroma are a bit light for style, particularly the aroma. The flavor suggests the use of something other than, or in addition to, traditional Saaz hops. Well-crafted and balanced, as well as very fresh (of course). Feel: Light+ body with medium-high, very crisp carbonation. Clean finish. O: a verydrinkabe if somewhat light flavored pilsner.

Pours out of the bottle in a clear golden colour with low head and medium body. Aroma of hops and straw. Taste of mild hops, grass, nuts, straw and peaches. Easy to drink, refreshing but in the end just average.

BB 19-11-13. Poured a clear golden colour with a one- to two- finger white foamy head that diminished quickly and laced with a few rings. Carbonation moderate with large bubbles. Aroma of light sweet malt and some yeast. Taste initially of light sweet malt followed by a low bitterness. Light body. Smooth with a long slightly bitterness and somewhat metallic on the finish. Disappointing.

Looks like a pilsner should. Initial malt aroma overcome by a stale yeast smell. Flavour wise very similar - initial malt, unsavory yeast, metallic hints and clumsy bitterness on the back of the palate. Pretty average ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This beer gushed 1/4 of the beer out opening. A - Hazy pale amber with a 2 finger white head S - Very bready yeast, faint hints of asparagus, musty grass. T - Mineral like hop character, some mild floral citrus behind a honey kissed malt. The hops are faint and stay uniform the he drink almost dying off toward the finish. A mild citrus tartness on the finish saves this one. M - On the heavy side of light but with creamy feel. Bummer on the gusher but it turned out ok. You can sense the age on this beer. Very nice feel and above average overall. Serving type: bottle 07-21-2011
