Light golden in colour, swett tasting, very refreshing.
3.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 19/20 KiwiInTheUK (6) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUL 5, 2008 does not count
I have good memories of this one, very refreshing on a hot summer day at the bbq/beach in NZ.. Nothing too strong flavourwise, but there’s something fresh and tasty about it nonetheless, makes it a heck of a lot nicer than a lager, very refreshing and drinkable.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 drpimento (1936) - La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 16, 2012
Little bit of an odd duck here. Served cold and with a creamy, off white head that soon settled to a light cover and lots of fine lace. Color is a clear amber with some bubble trails. Aroma is malt, grain, hop. Flavor’s like nose, grain flavor pronounced, light carbonic tang, mild sweetness and hop bitter. Body is ok, ditto carbonation but even so, it still seems somehow a little flat. Finish is like both flavor and body, which doesn’t work to the beer’s advantage. gigged it on that a notch. Kind of weird; i like it, but then again... meh.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20 Shadallion (534) - Sacramento, California, USA - FEB 7, 2004
A sweet but very hoppy pilsner, not at all skunky, thank the good Lord. Interesting contrast of soft mouthfeel and tongue-tingling bitterness on the back end. I really like this!
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 canary dog (582) - Rutland, Vermont, USA - JUL 11, 2010
Definitely a lot going on in the nose and the appearance, with the various flavor notes such as grass, lemon, and spice, and a fine frothy head. Although the taste is not as complex as many Eurpean pilseners such as PU and Mahr’s, it is well balanced and fresh-tasting nonetheless.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 illinismitty (2270) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - OCT 19, 2010
Bottle from Friar Tuck in Savoy. Pours golden with a white head. Typical aroma of pilsener malts, lemon, and hay. Light bodied with average carbonation. Flavor of biscuit, lemon, pils malt, and spicy European hops. Perhaps a very slight amount of DMS on the finish. Pretty straight forward and not worthy of the low rating here.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Koelschtrinker (8485) - Köln (Cologne), GERMANY - JUN 11, 2011
Minimal herber Antrunk, dann verstärkt malzig und getreidig. Der milde Geschmack setzt sich auch im Mittelteil fort, dazu kommt eine dezente Süße, die etwas trocken wirkt. Herb-getreidiger, dennoch milder Abgang.
Test vom 11.6.2007, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 11,11,12,11,10,11 - 11,10
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 rauchbier (3394) - Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - SEP 23, 2003
Bottled. Gold, thin white head and moderate condition. Sweet malt in the nose with some banana notes and a slight starchiness as it warms. Sweet in the mouth but well hopped. Warming reveals some tannin. Chalky finish with a tingle of hop bitterness.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Ungstrup (26267) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - SEP 10, 2010
Bottled. A dark golden beer with a thin off-white head. The aroma has notes of malt and caramel as well as lighter notes of dusty hops and hay. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of caramel and straw as well as lighter notes of metal, leading to a bitter finish.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 bluevegie (3004) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - AUG 2, 2003
Golden colour almost copper, moderate hops giving the bitterness at the mid palate, soft texture that is a bit thin in the finish. Inoffensive pilsener.
