Montejo is a regional brand, mainly found in the Southeast of Mexico. It is a pilsener type beer and is sold in two different packages.

12 oz bottle while on vacation in Cancun. Wow, not very exciting, except that I was excited to be drinking something different.

2 oz clear bottle from Mexico courtesy of Butters. 4.5 ABV. Corn and pale malt aromas. Clear very light pale light straw color. Very light pale malt flavor. Very light body, fizzy. Clean but unremarkable finish. This was the last (hurray!) of six light mexican lagers tasted, and rating them was getting really boring. Most of them are very light, low alchohol, refreshing, but nothing to write home about.

Clear, pale yellow. No lasting head. Nothing different than all the other piss we’ve been drinking all night.

Bottle courtesy of Butters. Very clear pale yellow body with a medium frothy white head. Sweet corn and grain aroma. Sweet corn and grain flavor, fairly unmemorable. Medium light body with moderate carbonation.

Sampled in Cabo San Lucas, Mx. This was the most unpleasant beer I had on this trip. Golden color, soapy white head, aroma and flavor of adjuncts. Unpleasant and unable to finish.

Brought back from Mexico by my parents: Pours a clean bright golden colour, no head plenty of malts, very watery and little no flavor except for a little citrus fruit. for the most part pretty boring and bland.

Poured from the can into a pilsener glass while on vacation in Mexico. A sour, malty aroma with some grainy and herbal hops. The beer was a very clear gold color with a lightly foamy white head that was small and quickly gone. It was a mostly bitter beer with some sourness, but not sweet. Dry on the palate, with very little carbonation, but still a moderately full taste.

I was for 2 weeks on a holiday in Mexico. I taste several local beers. First of all I’ll give a general personal opinion. All the beers were served to cold. There was no, or almost no foam. If you ordered a beer, you always have to ask for a glass, which is also very cold. Always there was a lemon in the bottle. If you like it and put the lemon in your beer, than every beer would taste almost the same, because of the strong taste of a fresh lemon. The temperature in Mexico makes it understandably to serve cold beer. But you loose the real taste of the beer. It’s a yellow colored clear beer, with a little white head., which disappears quickly. A lightly bitter aroma and taste. Some grains in the back. Absolutely not the worst Mexican beer.
