UPDATED: JAN 30, 2006 Good, one, not sure what else to say about it, it has a little sawer flavor but is’t nothin special. It has a blonde colour but giving the impression of being brown. It’s said the closest you get it to Yucatan, the best it tastes.

12 oz can in Mexico. Pretty typical of the Mexican pilseners being light and lacking body. Still, not too bad for a hot afternoon on the beach.

Really good beer, great when you hot and thirsty or having a Mexican meal. No bitterness.

OK, to get a few things out of the way: (1) I don’t like Mexican beer (2) I don’t typically like really light beer (3) I’m not a fan of the Pale Lager. Now, that said, I liked this beer. Drank from the bottle in San Miguel Cozumel. Pours a very light yellow color, and quite clear. Like every other Mexican beer, it has a fair amount of carbonation. What sets this beer apart from the Sol/Tecate/XX/Corona crowd is that it actually manages to have some flavor.

My next few reviews would mostly be mexican beers with some american tossed in too, since I am on a trip around Yucatan at this moment. ABV 4.5 % 355 ml can poured into a plastic cup. Clear golden yellow colour with a half finger head that disappeared immediately. Average amount of bubbles into the glass.  As with most mexican beers aroma is not that easy to distinguish. Nothing here too, just a "beery"  smell that is pleasant though. Taste is good, but nothing you can put your finger on, it’s not bitter, it’s not sweet. Maybe somewhere in the middle. Medium thickness on the body and slight carbonation. Overall, slighty better than your average mexican beer.

2013-12-20. Dark yellow body with a small white head. Sweetish cereally malt, lightly bready notes. Flavour is similar, sweet cereally pale malt. Average plus bodied palate. Simple macro brew but quenching as hell after trekking around Tulum ruins in the heat. Bottle from gift shop at Tulum.

Got one of these in Puerta Maya Mexico. Nice Mexican beer. No real flavor or aroma I could distinguish, just a nice, crisp refreshing beer. Best Mexican beer I’ve had.

Montejo has a thick, somewhat fizzy, white head, and a clear, bubbly, golden appearance, with minimal lacing left behind. The aroma is of sweet, lightly-roasted, bready malts, and the flavor is of sweet bread, mild hop bitterness, and possibly maize. Mouthfeel is light to medium, and Montejo finishes crisp, refreshing, and highly drinkable. RJT
