3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
330 ml bottle. Hazy golden body with a diminishing off-white head. Aroma is mild malty with some grassy/herbal hops. Flavor is refreshing bitter, mild malt and hint of citric fruit. Medium body. Kind of interesting beer, but not an IPA in my book. Not very bitter, but feels refreshing. A bit unusually hop flavor as well, something between grassy and light fruity. Pleasant aftertaste.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Lightly fogged golden. Ample white foam gradually collapses into a broken center and sustained collar. Plasticlike phenols line the subdued nose, along with straw, pear, honeycomb, sage, and a hint of children’s aspirin. Soft, lush carbonation. Light-bodied. Bottle-conditioned. Delicately tart and explosively airy with a pleasant phenolic snap. Dry on the palate with a ghostlike dusting of papery, straw-tinged malt. Clean and supremely quaffable, but consequently quite hollow with the exception of some lingering dough and sweetish honey residuals. Hops are floral and lightly herbaceous, though both the flavor and bitterness are virtually nonexistent, thus failing to contribute compensatory depth. Extremely mute yet nicely integrated finish is comprised of lilac and honeysuckle with lurking phenols and a dab of firm malt. Not a whole lot of character here, and it’s certainly hampered by the aforementioned hollowness. But it is quite clean and quaffable. I dearly love low-gravity beers, but at almost $6 for an 11.2 oz. bottle of this, I will never revisit.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Cloudy gold with a tall, foamy white head. Aroma is rather grainy with grassy hops, dried fruit and herbal notes. There may be an almost artificial pine aroma as well. Taste is herbal hops, grains, malt, dried tropical fruit and cut grass. Slight soapiness as well. Body is medium with a foamy, moderate carbonation. Ends with more herbal hops, grassy hops, grains, malt, tropical fruit notes and light earthiness.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured hazy light orange with white head. Smells of pine, like the cleaner pine-sol, and the tomato drink V-8. Tastes earthy or smoky with some citrus notes. Incredibly carbonated. The earthy taste is like the aftertaste from smoking a cigarette.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Pours a light yellow with a small, short lived white head. Aroma is pretty much only hops, herbal and spicy. A little bit grassy, weed, a bit of lemon. Just a hint of malts, quite akin to the malt profile in european pilseners. Predominately hoppy on the tongue too, the spiciness turns almost peppery. Light bodied, sparkly carbonation. Not much of an IPA, but a decent, well hopped ale that sat well in the summer heat.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Finally a Spanish beer with some hops. And I mean only some. Nice fruity hop aroma, kiwi hops? Light malty body with a better mouthfeel than any Spanish beer tried to date, slightly fuller in the mouth - slightly slimy - from carapils presumably. Slight biscuit. Fruity and zingy hops return at the end. A bit sour and edgy in the finish but quite ok. Feel partially justified in trying all these Catalan micros now...

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle pours cloudy straw with a white head. Aroma shows notes of caramel/toffee, lots of grassy hops, light citrus, and an underlying herbal quality. Flavor shows the same with additional notes of grapefruit, lime, and a relatively significant yeast presence. Overall body is moderate, somewhat sweet, and finishes moderately bitter.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a hazy pale golden with a thick and foamy white head. Strong lemony aroma right out of the bottle, and cereal undertones. Flavor is light and crisp, with cereal sweetness nicely balanced by lemony citrus and a hint of bitterness. Nicely carbonated, with a somewhat lively palate. A very pleasant, light, moderately hopped Spanish ale. (As a side note, I have no idea why this has been categorized this as an IPA. The bottle makes no mention of that style, and this beer is far from what would typically be considered an IPA.)

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
This is a very elegant looking beer, really very pale, moderately hazy but not cloudy with a big fluffy withe head that leaves a nice lace on the glass. The aroma is very interesting, very grassy, a little herbal, a lot more malt than one would expect from an IPA, it’s kind of a grainy malt aroma though.... there is really no sweetness in the smell of this beer at all. More of that grassiness shows up in the flavor. I like the way this beer tastes, not really as an IPA, but as something else entirely... it’s not like anything i’ve tasted before. It’s got a rustic earthiness to it, but it’s very crisp and clean. The moderate bitterness plays a key role here as well balancing a bright pilsner-malt-esque character. There isn’t a lot of sweetness to this beer but the malt starts going that way mid palate, but the beer finishes very dry.
I’d love to try this beer fresh, as I assume it is more IPA like. I guess that assumption could just be wrong though, maybe it’s just this breweries very off the wall riff on the style. Maybe they weren’t even trying to make an IPA here, maybe that’s just the way it’s being marketed in the US... Whatever it is it’s perfectly enjoyable beer.
