3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pour is a black with a large tan head. Aroma is an ok roasted malt/ coffee combo. Flavor is is about the same. Some roasted malt and coffee with a finishing sourness. It’s ok I guess and I’ve had worse.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle shared with northropfrye. Beautiful thick foamy head contrasts with the deep dark colour. Smells of smokey coffee with a tart tinge to it. A little bitter.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
A nice looking stout with a sweet chocolate and coffee aroma. Burnt malt flavor with some other grains detectable, just a hint of wheat even. Bitter hop presence balances this decently. Heavy head which settles down to a quarter inch that remains present until the beer is consumed. Bottle is black for US market with a strange painting on the label, probably per order of the importer, the intrepid Shelton Brothers.

Bottle @ home. Deep black appearance with a big dark brown head. Roasty, slightly bitter, chocolate malty nose. Pretty bitter, quite roasty, dark burnt, chocolate malty flavor. Bitter, roasty finish.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
A passable Irish stout, translucent dark brown, crappy head sadly, but good bitter clash between black and green in flavour, some diacetyl helping in an Irish kind of way. some burnt bitterness. not bad, but thin and watery, and bad head retention, as with all Spanish micros I’ve had.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Tannish colored fluffy head, good retention and lacing. Medium brown color with a slight red hue. Sweet malty aroma with notes of breadiness and almost no perceivable hop aroma. Surprisingly medium low bodied for a stout. Very enjoyable flavors of roasted malt and nice sweetness. Finishes chocolaty and refreshing. My scoring is based more on the fact that I enjoyed the beer than whether or not it met style guidelines.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
The bottle that comes to the US is much prettier than that one there, for what it’s worth. The beer is a dark brown, basically black fairly opaque in my snifter. The head is big and tight and leaves a nice lacing on the glass. The aroma has some nice coffee and ash with a light smokiness (think smoky coffee as opposed to smoked malt), some light bright fruitiness rounds this bouquet out nicely. The flavor seems stout-y enough at first, really not bad at all roasty with a fair level of bitterness and traces of coffee and toast. This all gives way to a sourness that seems to sufficiently overshadow everything but trace roastiness. It seems fairly lactic but there is some acetic character in the finish. Once you get past these facts the beer is enjoyable enough, although I think it would taste better if the sourness didn’t dominate it so much. As is it is an interesting beer and a flavor sensation one does not usually come by. The palate is terribly thin but the carbonation is right on.
