COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed for Monty's Korner and Monty's Krown, Rochester.
Watch out west coast IPAs, here comes the Fat Head! Hops, hops and more hops in this luscious, dark amber IPA. The secret is the subtle blend of 3 different American hop varieties balanced by a nice, malty mouthfeel. We added malt to this recipe until we got the alcohol level to just over 6% by volume, making it an ale to be reckoned with. A generous addition of dark crystal malt gives this fine beer its beautiful, ruby hue and subtle caramel flavor.

Draught at Monty’s Krown. Pours amber/deep copper with small head and minimal lacing. Dark crystal malt mix puts this IPA in the upper-mid range of IPAs. Nice to see a decent IPA from a local brewery.

Sampled at Custom Brewcrafters after the Lima German fest. Poured slightly darker than most IPA’s. Aroma of floral hops. Medium body. Flavor is floral hops with a lightly roasted malt ending.

On tap sample at Custom Brewcrafters in Honeoye Falls, NY. Clear amber straw color with average head and excellent lacing. Aroma is floral with grapefruit and citrus, some biscuity malt, fruit, honey and oranges, nice. Bready malt, sweet brown sugar, caramel, come through in the taste followed by floral and grapefruit hops. Light bitterness in the finish. Smooth light to medium mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Easy drinking. OK IPA with a stronger than typical malt presence. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: FEB 18, 2010 Sample at Autumn Festival of Ales - Hoppy nose, citrusy palate , some depth in flavor. forgettable 18 Feb 10 - Got a growler of the retooled version. BIG improvement. Nice East Coast take on a West Coast style.

Monty’s Korner draft. Dark brown/copper body with a small off-white head. Aroma of caramel malts and some hops with light citrus. The balance between the hops and the caramel malts was bad. This seemed like a porter that they threw some hops into, not an IPA.

My boy Jesus never leads me astray, and those near Consumer on Transit know who I am talking about. However, this beer was not nearly as good as he said it would be. I got a growler of it..Mistake. Little to no head, very faint hop aroma, so malty this should not be considered an IPA. Tastes like caramel. Hate to be so harsh, especially to a local brewer, but this is just not very good.

Cask. A dark orange amber ale with no head. Typical hops aroma, with notes of oranges, nice. In mouth, the same wet grains than EPA, too much grains, not boiled enough. Bizarre and not good. The Real Beer Expo - Rochester, NY, Oct. 21, 2006.

(draft @ Monty’s Korner - Rochester, NY) Deep copper/brown pour with a thin brown head. Aroma has lots of hops and citrus notes with some very light malts. Flavor is very hoppy at the beginning with some light malts to balance it out and a nice hoppy and bitter finish. A bit on the watery side.
