Cask (gravity dispense) at the Rake Welsh Beer Festival on 1 March 2011. Clear dark amber colour - not as dark as I’d been led to believe. Fruity and a little nutty. Not particularly hoppy or bitter. Clean mouthfeel. Not too shabby.

Cask at Kilverts, Hay on Wye. Brown with a thin beige head. A little chocolate and plenty of nice roasty malt, with a moderate bitterness and a little spice to finish. A lovely tasty beer, good stuff.

Bottled. Great amber colour. Can taste the amber/caramel malts which give nice aftertaste. Bit flat out of the bottle.

Bottled. Hazy nut brown, creamy head. Aroma of red apples and caramel. Mid sweet with light-medium body and rounded mouthfeel. some tin, grass and caramel. Fruity, resiny finish.

Bottle. Brown and bitter with some sourness. Medium body with a bitter Finnish.Not quite the real thing.

Dark amber body, white head. Aroma of raisins and roasted malt. Strong roasted caramalt flavour, figs and dark fruits. medium bitterness, good malt character.

(Cask at Market Porter, Southwark, London, 22 May 2010) Reddish brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, fruity nose with notes of dark fruit and dsuty hops. Slightly toasty. Malty, fruity taste with nuts, dark fruit, dark bread and a mild bitterness in the finish. Rather thin body, balanced sweetness. A decent session bitter.

Cask conditioned at The Square & Compasses, Worth Matravers, Dorset. Deep brown with white head. This was a very nutty, dark bitter, nice and dry with a sharp hazelnut type flavour. Long and bitter on the palate. Decent.
