UPDATED: OCT 20, 2014 21/10/2014 first time Iíve had to relate a beer because it has everything that was missing last time rated. This time round it is smooth, full flavoured, really pleasant chocolate toasty malty notes. Itís a great beer this time round. Wondering if th huge difference is because this one is tap not bottle? Very good and worth a re-rate 22/9/2012There are parts of this I enjoy others I really really donít. Its more than a wee bit thin for me. There is no head or carbonation it seems flat and even though there is a nice roasty malt, chocolate after taste it is missing that rich in depth roasty maltieness that is nice with a brown ale. Not sure what all the hops are contributing but not really getting it. The ABV is nice enough though, bought as a night cap and thats what it is doing.

From bottle in snifter at Fitz and Potts, Nundah. Pours deep brown with tan head and has chocolate malt and citrus hops on the nose. Rich taste from the malt and yeast profile that blends nicely into a smooth bitter finish. A very nice brew from the dark side of the Moon.

330ml bottle. Pours a very dark brown with only a tiny light tan head but some nice lacing. Plenty of chocolate wheat up front in the aroma, Belgian yeast poking through, brown sugar, brown bread. Flavour gives a sharp roasted malt note, coffee, slightly burnt, bitter chocolate. Much more porter or stout than brown ale. Medium-bodied, low carbonation, medium bitterness, coats the mouth. Very nice overall.

Bottle. Dark brown, verging on black with a frothy cappuccino coloured head and heavy lacing. Dark caramel, chocolate, dark brown sugar, toasty malt and citrus hop aromas. Immediate citrus, grapefruit and resin flavours provide solid bitterness, which is well balanced by chocolate and roasted malts. Delicious beer, with the flavour of the hops being showcased without cloying bitterness detracting due to the huge malt bill. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

bottle from the prince of wales in newcastle. dark brown, murky with a frothy brown head; plenty of rye bread dough in the aroma along with a bit of over-ripe banana, cocoa powder, sherbet; slightly gluggy texture; somewhat salty, hinting at a touch of smoked malt with some caramel, decent bitterness; curious at the very least

330mL bottle from Slowbeer. I must confess, Iíd tried this beer last week at the brewery itself, but there was one sitting in the fridge awaiting rating - so I digress. Looks the goods - deep brown, inch of dense tan head hangs around, leaving good lace. Nose is quite intense - spicy, grassy, woody, passionfruity, lemony hops, rich dark caramels, biscuit, touch of roast nuttiness. Body is chewy, somewhat creamy, rather sumptuous without being overly rich, moderate carbonation. Punches a bit harder on the body - chocolatey, biscuity, toasted nutty, dark caramel malts lay the foundation for resiny, grassy, spicy, citrus hops. Lots of bitterness, lots of structure, some fruity ester undertones there too. Heaps going on, heaps to enjoy - that 8% abv goes completely unnoticed! Fantastic stuff, these guys are insane but they brew some amazing beers!

Beerfest Asia, Singapore on 28/06/15. 33cl bottle. Full bodied and mecium carbonation. A hazy dark chocolate colour with a frothy off-white head. Sweet aroma of caramel, malt, chocolate and pine. Full flavour profile - a wonderful malt backbone, chocolate, caramel, a little coffee, spices and lots of hops. A lovely hoppy brown ale with a bittersweet spicy finish. Pretty damn good. Well done Moon Dog!

Pours a deep chocolate, with a decent head. Sweet confectioners chocolate on the nose and a hint of biscuit. Big roasted notes on the palate pushing through chocolate and coffee, with a drying almost tannic finish. Quite bitter helping a long finish. Carbonation is a little high but good stuff

Lovely dark chocolate colour with an off white quickly dissipating head. Hints of coffee and biscuit on the nose with a beautiful, smooth, rich coffee and chocolate taste. This beer is really smooth. I love it.
