2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
This beer is dominated by a flavour of coriander and parsley, which is really not my thing. Thereís plenty of hops to like about it, but I just canít get that aftertaste out of my mouth.

Bottle from Beer Cartel (April 2014). Murky amber/orange, dirty white head, lots of froth from neck of bottle, floral aroma, lavender, musk lollies, ripe rockmelon, sweet sugary malt, medium bitterness, medium sweetness, hollow, resinous bitter finish. Ok, but expected more.

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
On tap at Foresterís on Smith St. Clear golden colour with low white head. Weak aroma. Slightly grainy. Canít notice any hops. Thin crisp body. Moderately bitter with little malt flavour. Clean finish. Tastes more like a macro lager than an IPA. Poor.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
First had at the brewery - very fresh and full of aroma, very pleasantly surprised - now sampling from the bottle, served in a spiegelau glass.
Golden orange, bit of head, some lacing.
Great nose, antipodean stone fruits (in spite of the predominately US hops!), clean spice, orange peel, Belgian strawgrass. Funky and grapefruity.
West coast pine comes through strongly, a lot of funk and great floral taste. Bitter, breakfast fruit, some Nor Cal in there and a touch of smoke too. Some toffee sweetness going back and a crisp butter finish.
Tart and crisp...almost too sessionable!
Wouldn't want to take more than one or two to a summer BBQ! A great Aussie IPA, makes a difference having something fresh and local that hasn't sat on a ship for 3 months and is fairly priced since you don't pay import duty on a 7% beer. Especially good on tap!

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Deep gold with a ridiculously big foamy head. Sweet, malty, tropical fruit and lolly smell. Taste is malty, sweet, a little citrus and a bit biscuity. Not overly bitter. Itís a bit of a strange one, not bad, but not a typical US IPA.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
A decent IPA but somehow less than the sum of its parts. Plenty has gone into this but it falls away notably in the back palate. Bitterness also seems less than the 65 IBU claimed on the bottle. Not calling them out on it but I expected more oomph. Comes with a characteristically exuberant MoonDog head that refuses to settle atop a muddy pale bronze body. Over-ripe aroma dominated by Amarillo and dextrose. Smells promising but perhaps sweeter than the style warrants - like fruity boiled lollies. Melon notes and sucrose. Medium-bodied and moderately carbonated, despite a head that does not give an inch. The hops have it on the tongue but thereís surprisingly little cut-through for the hop bill. Resinous, with a faintly astringent note that detracts from an otherwise clean ípinomintí finish. Scratching my head about this - itís like a movie with a great cast, great director and a great script and yet it doesnít quite come together. (330ml bottle from Leura Cellars)
