3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 17/20
From a 330ml bottle on 28/1/2013. Pours pretty much black with a huge three finger tan head. The aroma is features chocolate, caramel and prunes, with hints of coffee and smoke. This is a real sweet one, with chocolate and caramel again the primary drivers, but I also get the honey, some condensed milk, and a fair bit of dark dried fruit. The sweetness is balanced quite nicely by a modest roasty bitterness. The palate is creamy. The only knock is that it’s a shade over-carbonated. Otherwise, this is an excellent sweet stout. Fabulous artwork on the label too!

Room temp, recommended. Caramel and Nut aromas. Quite a fluffy bronze head, maybe affecting the aroma’s so Ill update as I drink it. black in colour. Bitters on first taste medium sweetness. Oily texture with a average carbonation. a dry finish. Need to let it warm up a bit at this stage as Its holding back on me. I let it rest for about 20 minutes.
Very milky smooth, getting more hints of coffee and the bitters. More bitters to accompany the dry palate afters.

Bottle from the Pumphouse Sydney. Pours gushingly, black with a huge brown head. Smells of cream, coffee, candy. Tastes sweet, bitter, salty, and a bit tart. Medium-full body. Heavy creamy carbonation. Milk is fully present and very sweet, but breaks into a candy tartness.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured with a massive tan head with a big chocolate nose. Rich flavours and nice viscous mouthfeel makes this an interesting beer. Extra points awarded for monster boobage!

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle shared at the Brew Wharf, London - big thanks to Nick for bringing this along! Pours oily black with a thick, brown cream head. Lots of funk in the nose, smacking of some brand of infection, along with dark, tangy berries. Medium sweet flavor with more tangy funk, dark chocolate syrup, sourish berries, faint roasted malts. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation and a chewy mouthfeel. Sweet, tangy dark malt finish, some dark sugars here, moderate chocolate; mild heat, too. Rich and the funk does add an interesting element, though I’m not sure it’s intentional.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20
I hate to be giving this low score, amongst so much praise. I was disappointed with the overwhelming bitter coffee flavours, pretty much smothering the sweet creaminess and smoothness in palate and flavours. All breweries that dare to make a milk stout deserve praise and adoration. This had everything to work - oily black appearance, chocolaty, leathery aroma, full body, in addition to the fabulous choice of name - but the coffee is just too strong. Not as enjoyable as I would have expected from a milk stout.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Poors black with creamy tan head. Obvious honey on the nose with hints of fruit and chocolate. Palate was initially an unpleasing sour/sweet confusion, but the more my taste buds got used to it and noted the honey and milkyness, the more I enjoyed the beer. My first ever milk stout. Would love to try others to compare.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours totally black with a tan head. Aroma is malt, chocolate, caramel, fruits, some milk and honey notes and also, somehow, tonic with hops. Taste is medium sweet leading to a light sweet finish. I really like this brewery; they’re doing some very interesting stuff!
