Delsym (26), Macon, Georgia, USA May 20, 2006 On draft @ MRBC in Savannah. Nice color head, good body. Description says this beer is supplemented w/ oats, which sort of takes away the whole point of an IPA. As such, I kept asking myself "where are the hops"? I also noticed very little maltiness, so who knows where all those oats were. Alcohol content was certainly noticed. Overall, a decent beer but not one a raging hophead will love. muzzlehatch (4405), Richmond, Vermont, USA May 1, 2006 Draught sample at the brewpub in the company of the estimable Wunderbier. Hazy gold with little head....but Brandon’s full glass had a nice sustained creamy topping, so that’s what I’m rating....fruity, light marmalade nose kissed by strong C-hops and lightly caramelized malt....syrupy, thick and nearly cloying front palate, lots of dry, woody-citric character late help dry it out....in the end, very bitter and dry but a bit papery and hard/thin at the finish. Pretty nice, but a bit rough around the edges. Papsoe (9242), Frederiksberg, Denmark Apr 25, 2006 (On tap) Clear, fully golden with an off-white head. Fat, oily, hoppy nose. Rather full body with a light, metallic edge and a rather high sweetness. Everything is swallowed by aroma hops with lots of alphas in the finish leaving both fruitiness and a distinct bitterness. Great indeed. 010406 wunderbier (1249), Tampere, Finland Apr 22, 2006 Well now, this is pretty damn tasty. Billowing white fluffy head rests on a clear medium gold hued body. Big hop aroma that’s floral, citric, and piney. Malts are not to be ignored, breadish pure maltiness with a touch of caramel. Starts moderate to heavily sweet with a light acidity and moderate bitterness. Finishes moderately sweet with a heavy bitterness. Feels somewhat under-attenuated but I don’t mind sweeter DIPAs. The oats really lend a smoothness here that’s quite welcome in this style. Medium-full bodied, smooth texture, lively carbonation. kwoeltje (1138), Manchester, Missouri, USA Mar 10, 2006 Draught at brewpub. Medium-pale gold (slightly darker than a lager) with generous white head. Great floral hops aroma. Favor is all hops - floral and pine. I didn’t notice the oats really. Alcohol not at all noticable until the aftertaste
