jhumphries69 (436), Tyrone, Georgia, USA May 16, 2007 Pours a dark, cloudy brown with virtually no head (what little there is happens to be tan in color) - no lace on the glass. This batch must be very different from the other two ratings because the beer I tasted doesn’t sound like the other ratings. The waitress said it was aged in whiskey barrels for over a year. And it tastes it. The aroma has some sweet malts and lots of Bourbon whiskey. The flavor follows the nose. There is lots of not-so-subtle whiskey flavor here. There are some malts and a hint of smoke, too. The mouthfeel is low on carbonation, kind of heavy and a bit oily. The overall impression is of a Jack-and-Coke. Overall not bad - if you like whiskey. But I would have preferred something with greater resemblance to beer. Papsoe (9242), Frederiksberg, Denmark Apr 25, 2006 (On tap) Beautiful, clear amber with an off-white head. Malty, sweetish nose. Medium body with soft, malty accents and loads of caramel, some oak and an edge of sherry. All good stuff. Lightly sweet but immensely delicate. Very discreet bitterness. 010406 PorterPounder (2694), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Jul 3, 2004 Brewed in honor of the new ABV law passing in Georgia. Dark orange pour, little to no head - what is there is light beige in color. Has a spearmint like aroma on top of the molasses like sweetness. Flavor has elements of dates, raisins and molasses. Reminiscent of some dopplebocks I have had. Alcohol is evident, but not overdone. Very well done. Creamy thick mouthfeel.
