3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at Moon River. Pours black with a thin light tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate, roasted nuts, peanut butter, roasted coffee. Mmm, great aroma. Flavor starts off with roasted/burnt malt with a finish of chocolate and roasted nuts, light coffee. Delicious dry stout! Great flavor profile with aroma slightly better than flavor.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pint at the bar. Dark, really dark. The roasted malts are what this beer is about. Malt builds in the aftertaste. Coffee and nutty. Very good.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at the brewpub. Poured very dark with a small tan head that left a bit of lacing. Aroma was some coffee and roast malt. Flavor was coffee, a bit of chocolate, a bit of toffee, mild bitterness, very dry. Mouthfeel was quite thin -- a little too watery for me. But the flavor was dead on. Best beer I tried at Moon River.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Deep black with thin tan head... Aroma of dark chocolate, roasted malts, and coffee... Flavor is shockingly thin, expected more, but fairly complex with notes of bitterness from dark chocolate and coffee elements... This would be an amazing beer if it weren’t so watery and thin...

Ratings by Veeve, Back by Popular Demand, on Vacay in the lovely Savannah, Georgia. This beer is found on tap at the MoonRiver restaurant and brewing site on Bay Street in Savannah, GA. milke chocolate, coffee, subtle-balanced flavors. soft-velvety mouth feel. A WINNER. bitter-acidic aftertaste.
A good example of its kind. Definately try it. Leave the amber and the brown and have the porter and the stout.

On tap 3/17: Pours black with a creamy tan head. Aromas are filled with coffee and roasted malts with hints of chocolate. Flavor is roasty with hints of coffee and chocolate in the dry finish. Enjoyable and warmed me up on a cold St. Patrick’s Day morning in Savannah.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft. Pours a dark black with a fizzy tan head. Almost cola like carbonation. The aroma is full of coffee, roasted malts, with a touch of hops. The flavor is pretty light for a stout, but what you would expect for this style of stout. Very Guinness-like. Hints of coffee, bitter chocolate, roasted malts. A clean dry finish.

4.1 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
This is an excellent locally brewed version of dry stout, with lots of good coffee aromas and flavors, plenty of roasty notes, and a bone dry finish. DA Bomb Stout pours to a beautiful, opaque ebony color with a thick and creamy tan head, and a soft to moderate amount of carbonation. The nose is just packed with fresh coffee and roasty aromas, paired with a nice back drop of spicy hop aroma. The palate is firm and creamy on the tongue with big flavors of coffee and roast, and touches of bitter sweet chocolate. DA Bomb finishes with more coffee and roast up front, then ends with a bone dry, roasty, and bitter finish.
An impressive dry stout, from what I suspect is one of Georgia’s best brewpubs. This beer, and all the beers for that matter, are well worth a trip to Moon River for.
