NachlamSie (1631), Tennessee, USA Aug 20, 2007 draught at brewery. Pours a deep, deep ruby, near black with a small an head. The nose is light. Sure, there is some coffee, sweet malt, a bit of chocolate. No hops to speak of. The flavor is not that rich, it’s a light bodied porter which is quite well balanced. Adequate roast and coffee is present to keep things interesting. It’s a sessionable, light dark English leaning porter that works well in the Savannah heat. shrubber85 (2836), Wallhalben, Germany Aug 3, 2007 Tap at brewery. Chocolate malt aroma with light astringency. Dark brown color with minimal head. Bitter dark chocolate malt flavor with moderate hops. Very unique - a drier and hoppier porter. desurfer (1067), Pinellas Park, Florida, USA Jul 30, 2007 Nearly black body with a small mocha head. Aroma is roasty and sweet. Flavor abounds with burnt chocolate and coffee bouncing off a moderate hoppiness. Alcohol is hardly present. Nice porter. jhumphries69 (718), Tyrone, Georgia, USA May 16, 2007 Pours a very dark brown (nearly black) with a thin, dark head. The aroma is light - some roasted grains and coffee and some malts. The flavor follows the aroma: very little hop aroma, dark grains, some sweet malts with hints of chocolate and toffee, and lots of diacetyl (butterscotchy). The mouthfeel is very thin and light given the beer’s sweet, full-bodied flavor and strength. Overall, a very enjoyable porter. jcwattsrugger (5223), Florida and, New Jersey, USA May 11, 2007 on tap-pours a light brown head and black color. Aroma is dark malt-roasty/some coffee, faint hops. Taste is dark malt-roasty/some coffee, faint hops. Occasional. Braudog (3733), Dayton, Ohio, USA Apr 29, 2007 Draft pint at the brewpub; dark black with a firm and resilient tan foam head. Nice enticing java aroma. Nice coffee flavors, too. Mellows a bit as it goes, but still a quality porter. (#2827, 4/25/2007) stison42 (318), Blacksburg, Virginia, USA Mar 19, 2007 Black. No aroma to speak of. Nice clean chocolatey taste with a good medium body. Had at Moon River Brewery in Savannah.
