Draight at Moon River: This is exactly my kind of porter. Balance between bitterness and sweetness mastered to perfection. Sweet aftertaste.

wunderbier (1434) - Tampere, FINLAND - MAY 23, 2004
Caramel, chocolate, coffee malt (M); hint of smoke in the aroma. Deep brown-black body. Moderately sweet flavor becomes a moderately sweet, lightly bitter finish. Medium body, watery/creamy texture, soft carbonation. Some nice dark fruits in the finish. Very mellow. The bottom line is: just doesn’t have any oomph, anywhere.

Nice coffee/porter aroma. Dark rootbeer color with lace. Creamy and very, very smooth. Lightly sweet, light fruit, cream and coffee. Finish is mellow and medium long, a little bready. Not overly complex but good acid balance and mild. Very drinkable.

Black color with tan head & lots of lacing. The aroma is smoky & roasted with fig and some dark fruit (cardamom?) the flavor is well balanced but very fruity & slightly weak & watery in the finish.

Has such a fitting commercial description "Our porter is a full-bodied, semi-sweet dark ale, with distinct notes of caramel and chocolate." The only thing I would add to the description - COFFEE flavor! The malty sweetness is well-balanced by the fruggles hops. "The Captain" must be Juan Valdez. I wish i liked coffee, then i could rate this higher.

UPDATED: FEB 12, 2007 Draft... This beer rocks!... Sparkling clear, ruby ale with a small, fizzy, white head. Brussels lacing. Vanilla, milk chocolate, alcohol, smoke and coffee in the aroma and flavor. Full-bodied with a very creamy mouthfeel and mild carbonation. Medium-length, bittersweet, dry finish. Excellent beer!

A nice porter, very typical and true to the style. Lots of toffee and caramel in the taste, with some nice coffee roastiness in the finish. Mellow and malty, and very easy to drink.

Dark brown appearance, malty, chocolate flavor -- nothing special for a porter.
