Draft pint at the brewpub; dark black with a firm and resilient tan foam head. Nice enticing java aroma. Nice coffee flavors, too. Mellows a bit as it goes, but still a quality porter. (#2827, 4/25/2007)

Draft at brewpub. A good looking Porter. Poured a dark brown body with a small medium brown head. A little bakers chocolate in the nose. Somewhat dry chocolate malt and vanilla flavor with a little carmel. Thicker mouthfeel than it first appeared and somewhat oily. Pretty good Porter.

4 oz. sample. Pours a deep, dark brown with khaki-colored bubbly head. Aroma of chocolate with espresso notes. Sweet, smooth mouthfeel with nice chocolate flavors. Malt backbone with a hint of bitterness at the finish line. My favorite beer of the night.

The aroma was roasty with an acidic chocolate and fruity nature. Some caramel was notable in the background, but the beer was a bit winey in the nose. The beer arrived blackish brown with a beige lasting head which laced the glass. The flavor was chocolate, dark chocolate, with a dry acidity and caramel. The flavor was fruity and had a nice level of bittering but no appreciable sweetness or hop flavor. The body was medium with a low level of carbonation. The finish was dry with a lightly acidic chocolate into the aftertaste. A good porter without any alcohol presence despite being 7%. Pint at the brewpub.

Draft. Pours a jet black with a thin tan head. The aroma is full of coffee, with a bit of chocolate. The flavor is a great mix of chocolate and a lot of coffee. Just a little bit of hops at the end of the taste. very well put together porter.

From a sampler on 10/25/08. Dark in appearance. Cocoa and coffee aroma. Taste was of roast malt and cocoa with a touch of bitterness. One of their better offerings.

Sample from Raleigh WBF. Dark brown pour with small light brown ale. Light coffee and roasty chocolate notes. Unremarkable, but not bad.

On Draft at Jacksonville’s Follio Weekly Beer and Music Fest. Poured a dark brown to black color with a small, creamy, light brown head. Dark chocolate and caramel aroma. Sweet flavor with lots of chocolate. Full creamy body. Best beer of the Fest!
